Put some big pillows on the bed he wants for seating if it is possible to un loft one bed if all the furniture needs to stay then uncluttering all the odd spaces would be my 1 st thing and find a spot for everything out of sight.It is hard to get a feel for the space from those pictures and the floor plan makes no sense if the room is only 128” wide there is no way to put 2 beds and anything else on that wall unless those beds are very narrow. Can’t see the point in the closet since it has a dresser in it. IMO drom rooms are not usually easy to deal with and the kids generally don’t keep them tidy or nice looking. Mu gut tells me there will be a new room mate soon and all the work will be for nothing.

Thanks for your ideas. the dresser can be moved out of the closet area and yes I was going to use pillows on the extra bed for seating. The room is very tiny and yes it is only about 11x15’ - with two twin beds it is very narrow. He will not be getting a new roommate as he had the option to requested it as a single (for a small feel). I will keep looking around for other ideas.

Just thinking....can the bookcases be stacked...one on top of the other? Might have to fasten them together someway (small screws in the back)...or small book case over a dresser, or even a bookcase over one of the desks not in use. Refrigerator could go over a desk since the desk is not being used. Why 3 trash cans? With space at a premium, won't one trash can do? Can he put one bed up and one bed under it so that one side of the room is free for other things and there would still be room on the lower bed to be used to sit on....maybe not enough height? How about dressers together under one loft bed and the two desks under the other loft bed? Having had a son in college I know the challenges.

Yes I believe the book cases can be stacked and one could even go above the closet. We will try stacking things as much as we can. Dorms are rather unappealing and challenging don’t you think? I think we will just have to try our a few ideas and see how they work! Thanks for your thoughts

That is an interesting idea to put the beds together on one side. They might fit but will need to check the length of a twin xl bed. I like your thought to stack the bookcases and to move the desks by the window. Thanks!

Actually he will not have a roommate. They are given an option to get a new roommate or pay an additional fee to keep it as a single room. He may be a little lonely but he’d rather have the space...

Maybe if he is going to be alone the college could store some of the stuff until the time when he moves out.

I asked but all furnuture must remain in the room.
