Paint Home Repair Windows

New build interior window paint chipping

My condo built in 2010 doesn’t have the window sills I had growing up, a few times we left the windows open and rain got the surface and now the paint is chipping. It looks like drywall underneath the chipped paint. I grew up with window sills, so I have no idea how to repair this. Can I just chip the loose paint, sand, and paint over? What would you recommend?

If the drywall is still in good repair (not swollen and crumbling), yes, you can sand and paint.

In the not distant future, I would look into installing some solid surface sills. Like the acrylic Siltech ones that you can get at HomeDepot.

The material is like Corian. Easy to cut and fit using woodworking tools. I would glue it down with something like OSI Quad and neatly caulk the corners.
