My new patio seating area and walkway

This is the small patio area my son built for me to put my table and chairs to clear out space on the walkway. Before, the table was on the walkway (which is the only "porch" i had) and a pile of other things, plus plants, so I could hardly squeeze by to get to the door. Now I have a nice place to sit and drink my morning tea and relax in the afternoon when it's shaded. Plus, I have a great place to put my plants that love that southern afternoon sun.

Still need to paint the table another color and pressure clean the concrete, but that will wait until spring, when I get the rest of the courtyard done the way I want it after everything dies down.

The plants in the window are ones I've moved inside for the winter and things I'm rooting in water. When the courtyard is done, all of those will have a place outside in a shaded area.

Little things are so important when you live in a small space. I smile now every time I walk through the gate.

I showed him how to do it. I used to work with his father on some of his home renovation jobs, and he taught me how. My son was thrilled to learn a skill passed down from his dad.

LOL! Just noticed that I didn't take the price sticker off the chair.

I like it. Was going to use it this morning, but it's pouring rain. Maybe this afternoon.

Of course, the rest of the courtyard is a mess right now. I've got to get out and straighten that up. Losing 30sf in an 11 x 14 courtyard full of plants means some major rearranging and plant purging has to be done.

Yes, it was fun. We did a lot of things together that we both like, but he wore me out! I'm starting to recover, though. He tends to forget I'm exactly twice his age.

Sultry, you're right! You know me too well. LOL

I'm planning a potting bench over in the corner where all the containers are now. That is the corner where a previous tenant had a pond and it's full of gravel to about a foot down. Nothing will grow there, so I'm putting the potting bench in that corner. Most of those pots will be filled with plants to sell this spring/summer, so they'll be gone. I'm also hoping to put a small lattice shade area over on the south wall for my tropicals. When I'm all done, it will be an entirely different place, and much neater and more user friendly, plus a lot nicer to have friends in to visit.
