what size table for dining “booth” / banquette?!

We are putting in a new eat-in kitchen at the end of a galley kitchen in front of a window. Bc there is an AC unit below the window, we cannot put built-in seating/banquette in front of the window. So we are putting in built-in benches on the sides, like a booth. We cannot figure out the right size of table to get....we have little kids, and if we move the table in one direction, it will be too far in the other. Any idea how to figure out the right size? Contractor says 54” square, but this seems small to me.

You would judge the size by the amount of space between the two benches.

Here is a guide they use for restaurant booth seating. Notice that the table pretty much runs from the edge of each bench, though you can have it overhang by an inch or two.

For length a would try to make it the same length as the benches.

What are the dimensions of THE SPACE??? All of life is inches. An aerial diagram is useless. Give the width, and length.

We need the dimensions of the space and depth of the proposed benches to give you an exact answer. Can you please provide them? Typically you want the table to overhang the seat 2" which should give you the width of the table. As for the length that will depend on the space between the wall and counter top. You want to make sure you leave enough space between the counter and table edge so that it's comfortable to get seated. Also, do you prefer the table to be floating in the space or up against the wall?

Ok — so would a 60x60” Square table work here?

Bench depth: 18.5”
Distance between benches: 52”
Bench height: 16.75”
Bench length window to counter 74”
