Nope. We had one and it was an expensive one, and it sleeps hot, and never lived up to the hype after the novelty wore off.

Mattress shopping is totally overwhelming. Tough to compare prices and personally find it tough to compare comfort by laying on something for 10 seconds in a store.

We have had ours for 10 yrs I love it we put one in our guest room and we always get compliments on how comfy it is. Ours was probably middle of the road cost wise the only thing I don’t like is the weight of the mattress if you want to turn it around or putting on a really tight fitting lower sheet.

No. Get mattresses without pillow tops that you can flip. If your beach area is cool, add a 2-inch thick memory foam topper that you can replace easily. If it is hot, add a faux-pillow-top topper that can be replaced easily instead.

We have had one in our master bedroom for 10 years. It has held up well - better than any other mattress we have had. Believe it is a Serta. Bought one for my son 9 years ago online - not so great (don’t recall the brand). He still likes it, but it’s way too soft for me. We bought one for the master bedroom in a vacation rental (also Serta) and it held up great. In recent years I have purchased from IKEA, and they have been great for daughter’s college place and a guest room. We bought the firmest ones at IKEA. The latest technology includes a gel cooling layer for many brands. The added heat on our mattress didn’t bother me until recently. It still doesn’t bother my husband. So I recommend the Serta and IKEA, but not sure what brand you’re looking at.

I don't care for them. Tried a Casper for two nights and awoke in pain each morning, never mind the off-gassing that woke me in the middle of the night. The sensation of foam is unpleasantly bizarre to me. I got a refund.

I have a combo one of memory and gel foam, and I love it. Yes, it is a little hotter than my previous mattress, but that's not the end of the world and it's worth it for the benefits I get in comfort. I spent over an hour in the mattress store, laying on each of my "short list" options for 10 minutes or more. Mine is a Sealy Optimum; I also love how light it is, making it easy to turn (I don't flip it, but I do turn it top to bottom a few times a year).

I think people either love or hate them. I fall in the "hate" category as I tend to sleep "hot" and those things are hot! I would not put one in a beach house. I'd get a plain old ordinary mattress that can be flipped and a good 100% cotton mattress pad. I have had very good luck with the ones Walmart sells. They wash beautifully and don't shrink up the way some of the ones that are not 100% cotton may.

We will never own anything other then a memory foam mattress. We ordered online from Costco and it was one of the more expensive ones that they offered. It has never seemed hot to me and I sleep much warmer then my DH. It is heavy though, that would be my only complaint. it is about 10 years old and we still love it.

Have had a Temperpedic for over 20 years. Love it. It may sleep hot but I really don’t know because we keep our thermostat set to 60 at night :). We like it cold. We also purchased their adjustable base about 10 years ago...love that as well.

Have to add that it has completely kept it’s shape....no depressions whatsoever.

We’ve had a Tempurpedic for years. We like not having to flip the mattress. We’re getting too old to wrestle with a king sized mattress!

Too hot for me .... got rid of mine. But I live in a very mild climate & I prefer a cooler bed & pillow year around.

I was overwhelmed with the types of mattresses and went right to Consumer Reports the last time we went shopping - got their #1 this past spring - the basic Casper. The memory foam took some getting used to, but I love the cushy feel and strong support now. This winter, however, I was surprised at how warm I was - thought I was getting sick, checked the thermostat, etc, but realized that we no longer need our down comforter with this bed! Good luck!

Memory Foam will sleep hot, it will get body indents and it will wear out.

I grew up in a home with natural latex foam matresses. The house was built and furnished in 1963. MCM with built in furnishings (couches, beds, dressers, bookshelves, desks). The house sold after my mother died in 2001. The matresses sold with the house and were as solid as the day we moved in.

When I got married my sister gave me her old box spring and mattress. She had moved from a queen to king sized bed and the matress was still in good shape. After 10 years I replaced that matress with another coil spring matress. 10 years later I replaced that mattress with a natural latex foam mattress. After 10 years it feels as comfortable as the day I purchased it. No sags, no indents. You do have to be careful in selecting a "Natural Latex Foam" matress. Seems that there is some legal leeway in the definition of Natural Latex Foam and you do want 100% natural latex and not a hybrid of natural and synthetic lates.

For personal use, natural latex is phenomenal but the "real deal" is expensive - but worth it in my opinion if you can afford it.

I was buying quite a bit of stuff so I compromised with the mattress I bought last year as it has a latex "comfort layer" but its body is composed of high quality dense foam. It wasn't cheap - I think it was about $2000 but it's extremely comfortable as it feels like I am floating on a supportive cloud :-). I am counting the years until I can justify purchasing a latest mattress.

But for a rental - get a decent quality mattress that is reasonably comfortable as you would want to replace the mattress as soon as it shows any wear. And invest in a bedbug cover just in case :-).

Memory foam is filled with toxins and sleeps hot. Look at natural latex. No off gassing, not hot, better for you and the environment.

I've got a memory foam/gel that i've had for about 5 years now. Love it. No hot issues at all.

I can think of nothing WORSE unless perhaps you reside in an igloo at 32 degrees

. Personally I like a very cool room, a feather topper on my mattress. all year as it BREATHES. A very GOOD feather topper on top of a very supportive mattress. Spell BLISS.ABSOLUTE, PURE BLISS. Only percale sheets as well. For the same reason, and spare me sateen for the same reason as the memory foam. : ) UGH.
