Forbidden Fruit. Had a rough go. Not deer nor bunnies. but a 95 lbs Zoe that likes to sleep in the shade under the pine . You can see Forbidden Fruit in June. She destroyed 3 hostas in that area.

    Sherry i feel your pain.

Shadow- Zoe is so cute... you can forgive her, I’m sure.

I’d be here all day if I told you all how much I admire your plants, and beautiful garden settings! Just amazing. And I thought I wouldn’t buy any new hostas this year! I’ve already ordered five, and I’m pretty sure I’ll have to have at least a few more. The want/need list is getting longer.

    Hi peren.all:

Fat Cat has a sorted history. My sister bought her and she languished in her garden for a few years. When she and her husband split and she moved, I dug up any hosta at her place that I didn't already have. At that time she told me it was probably Albiqua Drinking Gourd. I was pretty sure it wasn't and was on a mission to figure out what it was. I was on a hosta garden tour in London, ON when I saw one very similar to mine. The garden owner didn't recall what it was but I rooted around under the leaves and found the Fat Cat tag. My sister confirmed she had owned that one at one time but was pretty sure she had killed it but I was pretty sure she hadn't! it is a huge hosta and I have divided it twice as I don't have it in a spot that will accommodate a huge hosta. It is a beautiful shade of gold with big leaves . Here is a better pic from 2016. .Enjoy yours - it will get big.

Sunnywood, I love your Fire and Ice. Yours has such a large creamy center. Mine hasn't gotten very big and I was told to plant it and don't move it as it is rather difficult to grow. How long have you had yours?

Thanks for the info Barb. It makes it even more fun when it has such a history. It clearly has not minded the move and being divided twice. Great story and smashing plant in both pics!

Mbug- what is your last plant above? Fragrant Queen?

Shadow, I Also have a Zoe! She’s not big enough to cause much damage, she actually stays out of my gardens. I think both Zoes are adorable

    Sherry

    Sherry I totally concur!!!!

Wow! Lots of nice Fs everyone.

Mbug - I really like that Fire and Ice sport. Fog Light was my most photographed Hosta last year. You've done a decent job capturing it, but I think it looks better in person. Can't wait for mine to grow up (mid July):

It looks completely different in sun vs. shade. Here's my other plant taken same day (mid July) and 10 days later:

My FF Palm Sunday needs to grow up more, but here's FF Irish Moon:

First Mate, 1st year had competition with arborvitae roots, so later in the season replanted it in a spin out bag. Hopefully 2019 will be a better year for it.

Forbidden Fruit, also new in 2018

    Fragrant Blue

    Fragrant Bouquet
