Insulation behind Hardiplank Install

Hello - we are replacing the EIFS stucco on our house with Hardieplank. We are worried about losing the insulation value we currently have - which is pretty good. The installer is going to install Tyvek under the siding. Will that be enough insulation? Should we consider upgrading to something else?

Tyvek is not insulation.

Tyvek is a water and air infiltration barrier only, it stops air and liquid water movement. It has literally no insulating value, unless it is the Tyvek Thermowrap, which is supposed to carry an R5.0 rating. Generally, you would install the Tyvek over the foam board insulation attached to your OSB or ply exterior wall face.

Salliemay, why are you replacing the EIFS? We’re interested in a home with eifs, but weren’t sure about the upkeep. Could you give any advice as to how much full replacement would cost? You can pm me if you would like. I hope that I am not being too intrusive.
