Hi Irma, I sort of hang out over here from time to time. You should get your seeds on Friday. I threw in some mint family bee plants too. Hoping you get lots of milkweed pods next year!

You are very welcome Irma. Are you just growing the tropical milkweed, Asclepias curassavica, or are you also growing other milkweeds? You said you had golden Cosmos. Can they be grown like regular Cosmos? When they first came out with the yellow Cosmos, there were special requirements in order to successfully grow them. I was wondering if they overcame that issue.

Jay, this photo is from 2018 summer. Golden Cosmos is easy to sprout, transfer, and maintain. You can see how it doesn't need much depth. They do not require many hours of sun and do not dry out easily. It's the plant I finally acquired seed-sprouting confidence with.

This year I raked about 100 seeds (GC is prolific!) into light shade sandy area in Oct or Nov where they took a long time to sprout and grow but did make a carpet. On Dec 25 I transferred some into pots with nutrients (you can put several together to support each other) where they have grown fatter and a few budded (gave those away so I don't know if they bloomed) ... height will come with hot weather.

The other "Cosmos", more frequently sold here for some unknown reason, is usually in 3-inch pots and is tri-color with white, pink, and a 3rd? colors of blooms... but never survives for me. Maybe it is too crammed together to avoid fungal infection.

ps. I haven't gotten your seeds... but no hurry. I'm busy putting in little marked-down bedding plants for additional color among the blooming Asclepias curassavica (the only milkweed I've tried) and the self?-reseeded Golden Cosmos which are now blooming. Snapdragon, pansies.... plants that thrive here in winter but will not endure our summers.

I had a similar package like yours and the person never got back to me with their address, so I'll use those. Thanks for the info about the Cosmos!

Jay! They came today! Date postage paid "Jan 08". Today is Jan 22. What is going on with the PO?! 7 kinds of seeds - all for butterflies! You are too kind. I will start them in pots soon. And Anise Hyssup Agastache foeniculum... I was just wishing for Agastache and also for anise!

I have just started to cultivate a new area, to start a new butterfly garden. It's all sand and oak leaves, and easy to dig in after I have pulled up the Sansavera. Pulled out maybe 70 pounds of Mother-in-law-tongue roots yesterday from a 50-inch diagonal circle around a curb-side power pole.
