Iris Leaves Bent in Half

I have a bunch of irises growing in pots. They have been up since November and are about 18-24" tall. Several of them have been bent over about 6" from the ground (from what I don't know). This is a hard bend that can't be straightened out.

I have cut them some of them off just below the bend and left others. I plan to see what happens to each and decide what I will do in the future. I'll post the result in the spring.

Has anyone already done this experiment, or tried some other option such as cutting them off at ground level?
