We are renovating out master bathroom from a cramped 5'x5' space to a true master suite and second walk in closet. The new foot print extends over the third bay of the garage (about 14' x 17') and we are leaving the ceiling vaulted. I am attaching pictures of what I have so far for the bathroom. I have had to compromise what I would personally like (more eclectic and slightly modern) with my husband's very strong opinions :) although he says he is letting me pick everything out, ha,ha,ha. Our contractor is doing the major bones of the work and my husband is doing all the electrical, plumbing and HVAC since he is qualified to do this (actually is an CIPE, and does design work).
My problem now is planning for finishing. This was a surprise renovation for me by my husband so preplanning was not done. I thought we would get to this in several years. Drywall goes in Monday, and soon the room will be ready for the floor. Ack!!
I envision a beautiful white and brown peaceful room. My husband points out a marble today that looked like vomit. Really, it was that bad. At least he now realizes that the Grecian marble he loves (and put in our other 2 bathrooms) is a pain to care for. I just mumble patina to myself.
We are now looking at the Emperador Dark marble and a basketweave pattern for the floor. What about the Shower? Help??I would like to crisp up the area a little, not go all beige. I can do a dark floor if there is brightness elsewhere; wainscoting?
