Disregard table and rug. Those aren't staying

I have the Crate & Barrel 48" Halo table which comes in ebony or gray. My space (though open) measures about the same. I have 4 very wide side chairs, however, I have had 6 people at the table by inserting at least 2 smaller (less wide) chairs. Also, if you place a gigantic mirror on that wall and hang it rather than leaning it, your guests will not feel so closed in. We've backed people up within inches of the mirror and it really gives the illusion of more room than there is.
