I'd use the bright pink for the sofa by the windows, to bring some of that colour to that side of the room. An abstract floral would be nice:

For the center sofa, I'd stick with a solid neutral with a nice trim. White, natural linen, etc.

Oh, for the tray:

I think wood to match either your floor or end tables, or tarnished brass or silver would look good and suit the coastal look of your home.

White would be ok, but a little more juvenile maybe.

I’m not over the moon with the two pillows on the white chairs…thinking the colors are too concentrated and become focal points. I do like the DotKat pillows on the sofas.

Having trouble with your photo colors…I see green in some and turquoise in others.

Omg. I would not try to match anything with those striped pillows. Those, along with those solid turquoise ones, look like a really bad failed attempt to try and match with that artwork. I would stop trying to do that. If you're going to have light furniture, then get light colored pillows so there is not such a stark contrast with those random colors. If you're going to do random colored things like that turquoise ottoman, then you need to get comfortable letting those stand on their own and stop trying to spread the color around to make it make sense. If you can't design-wise do that, then you shouldn't try to add pieces like that into a space.

i tend to like a couple statement pillows in such instances.

Cpaul, What would two upholstered chairs look like? The stripes can be turned into lumbars. The teal pillows do appear solid, they’re polka dotted.
Another thought, C the multicolored cubes? Should I replaced the stripe with that?

Honestly, you could very easily work with everything that you have. Your kitchen looks beautiful, you could make this work, but IMO that artwork is really throwing you off. It's got you introducing all kinds of color that your space does not call for. It's what made you do that ottoman (or vice versa). I would get rid of that ottoman, or have it reupholstered, and then get different art work that is more subtle in color (like the rest of your home) and then go from there. If you keep going down the road you're going because of that artwork and ottoman, I think you're going to continue to struggle trying to make that room look good. And yes, ultimately do I think light subtle patterned chairs would look better than a whole room full of solid white furniture, yes. But you've got to get over this bright colored thing you're doing, it's not going to work.

I love what you’ve done with the room thus far. Beautiful! I would add 2 toss pillows with aqua, pink and white. Then add a third pillow in solid pink or a pink that has a small pattern. I would use a tray made out of driftwood to add to the coastal casual feel. Lastly, I would move the one club chair so that they’re parallel to each other. To me it looks a little odd with the one on an angle. Bring a small amount of aqua into the kitchen (vase, candlesticks, mason jar, etc. something along those lines). Best of luck. I think the striped pillows are too big for those chairs. If you love them, either switch them onto the one of the couches, or have them remade into lumbar pillows. A gold tray would pull the gold from the frame over ( shape should be round or oval). Natural wood would add a rustic element, just depends on which you prefer.

@secluded. I believe pink is being suggested because of the artwork behind the club chairs. In the top left corner of the art the color appears to be pink although it may not be in real life.

@secluded. Forgot to mention that it appears to be pink in the striped pillows on the club chairs. Keep posting updates so we can see what you do with the gorgeous room.

I agree the striped pillows are a bit too large for the chairs. Try them on a sofa. Other than that, I love your bright, cheerful room, especially the turquoise ottoman. For a tray, I would have a large one made of a light-color wood with simple cut-out handles and sealed well in case of moisture. For size, maybe 30” by 24” and 4” deep with the handles cut out of the 30” sides. You need a big tray on a big ottoman. (I would probably have two trays made, the second one maybe 24” by 18” and 4” deep. You can best the smaller in the larger for storage.

Wildcat Blue, ahh, I understand now and I can see your color pink perspective. The color is more tomato red. The pic below is in lighting that appears to b truer for your perspective.

JudyG and Story, I’ll color edit the photos to remove morning sunlight. Perhaps that will help. The aqua ottoman has a green tone.

I agree with replacing the pillows with something more neutral (and smaller in size on the chairs) but only because there is so much gorgeous to look at. Perhaps something that pulls in the color of the rug? I LOVE the painting and the ottoman. I also love when threads continue to confirm what I am always having to remind myself - taste are inherently subjective and you have to trust yourself if you’re the one enjoying the space! For what it’s worth, I love your instincts and space so far.

Felizlady and everyone, striped pillows too big for chair i understand, I was thinking the same. I can definitely make them into lumbars for the chairs or even the sofas. Do u have any visual options you have seen that you could show me? I like your idea of nesting one tray in the other. The shapes that are being suggested are round, rectangle or oval. The ottoman is a 50” square, why is no one suggesting square...does the ottoman appear rectangle in the photos, is that why.

Beautiful room! I like the colour of your ottoman but I'm not sure about the blue pillows on your couch. I think the blue is a touch too light. Like JudyG, I'm not over the moon with the striped fabric either. I've seen that cube fabric as well - pretty but I worry it's introducing too many colours in the mix. As Kirsten pointed out, so much of this is subjective and we're looking at your room in one dimension through a medium that can't guarantee colour exactitude. (To be clear, I'm using your most recent room pictures to gauge the colours, not your first pics in the bright morning light.)

If it were my space, I think I'd be looking for reds and teals together. I think it would be nice to have some neutral pillows in a shade darker than your seating as well.

Don't know if you like patterns beyond geometrics but I found these Robert Allen fabrics that might offer the right mix of red and teal.

This one is the coral colorway but I do see tomato red in there. Background too light?

Background on this one might be too dark? It looks busy but might work on a pillow.

If you're having pillows made, could you borrow fabric books to pore through at home?

i too love your room, your simple very neutral background is perfect for the play in colors for the pillows and art. the reason i chose pictorial pillows is that your have many patterns, i tend to like a couple solids, a couple patterns and then some with a pic, like the ones i gae. i have many others if you like..

I suggested pink. I mistakenly thought the pillows on the chairs were the chair cushions, and since they have such a strong hot red/pink/orange I thought it was important to bring that colour over to the other side of the room.

I'm glad you're open to changing them; I like your bold use of colour but I did think the cushions were a bit overpowering. I just thought they were attached!

I still do like the pillows I suggested though. I think they would be fun :)

I like everything , but I do think it wouldn’t hurt to have the swivel chair cushions made smaller, either lumbar or just SHORTER and have the tops mirror the curved shape of the backs of the chairs. —— When adding pillows, I would NOT do any more matching — either in number , shape or pattern. Maybe add a lumbar and a square in front of polka dotted ones on one sofa in two different patterns from below ( tied together by color which relates to rug ) and just one on other sofa in a third pattern ( since they are so neutral in color and subtle in pattern) . I just think you have to be careful of not having any more PAIRS, because it would be too matchy- matchy feeling.

I would go with something a little different material wise which will also add some needed texture against your traditional fabrics.

Try the striped pillows on the sofa, one at each end, and place the green polka dot one in front of one of the stripes. Then try a green polka dot in one of the club chairs and place a throw (one with a pattern using your colors)on the other. It’s a guess and test situation. Good luck!
