Den Decor Advice!

My husband and I are settling into our new home and I’m looking for decor advice for our den which is the first room you walk into. The pillows came with the couches..not sure I love the yellow. Looking for advice/ideas on how to decorate and make it homey, especially with all of the sales going on this weekend. (Couches, area rug, coffee table must stay). I’ll be posting about our living room as well! Thanks in advance!!

Your living room is very nice. Doggy is cute. I feel the furniture might have a better flow with a new layout.

TV is too high on the wall for the size of the room and the table below it. A nice tv table with the tv sitting on top would look more proportional. I would center the larger couch below the window and add end tables with lamps on each side. Place the smaller couch facing the tv and the chair on the short wall with a table and lamp beside it. Add a good size rug and a runner at the entry. The little table can possible go on the entry way wall with a mirror above it.

Congratulations on the house! I think you need a pop of color with different pillows and area rug. Maybe blues and white? Even some added yellow would be pretty. Is it possible to move one of those smaller couches out of the room? It looks crowded. Also I think the table needs to be closer to the furniture.

His parents gave us those couches..I agree, the couch in the corner could go in order to open up the room and make it look less stuffy but it is sooooo freakin comfy!! Also - love the ideas of blues and whites and pops of yellow. I just don’t have an eye for interior decorating. Any pictures with examples/hues for inspiration is also greatly appreciated! Pictures of any other additions to the room would be great as well for inspo !

I’m wondering if you could turn the rug and coffee table 90 degrees and move the small angled piece to form a U shaped seating area. It would define the entry, center the other seating pieces on their respective walls, and possibly create a cozy conversational area. Of course, I’m not sure if it will work with the dimensions of the room, but it might be worth a try.

Since they are so comfy (and they look very comfy!!!), could you consider switching the sectional room and couch room?

Unfortunately we tried arranging the couches every which way this was the only way it fit and tried swapping couches from one room to another but the sectional made the room look closed off. What are thoughts on wall decor/where to hang pictures/possible console table against big wall when you walk in? Really looking to maybe swap out the yellow and/or superficial additions to the room to make it look put together. Will definitely keep the idea of removing the cornered couch in mind.

Could you turn the longer couch with the back to the door(making an entry way). The two chairs facing the couch.

The recommended distance from seating to the coffee table is 18”. What are the dimensions of your room? I would look for a narrow console to place on the wall as you enter the front door. Place a lamp, bowl, and decor on it. Find artwork you love first and the pillow color will follow.

Have you tried floating the chair here. Moving the table 18" in front of the sofa, and making an L shape with the sofas.

I would remove the corner chair ... it looks too crowded in there, place the sofas in a “L” position with an end table & lamp In that corner. Coffee table should be moved closer along with a much larger area rug. I’d probably start with looking at rugs & go from there , it might dictate your color choices.
