I would choose the chandeliers before adding anything to the niches. You are good to be looking at a more linear shape for your dining chandlier. The dining chandelier looks a little "farmhouse". Also, have you ever had Edison bulbs? They tend to be a little jarring to the eyes.

Yea I was drawn more to farmhouse types of lights simply because of the mixture of wood and iron. I have seen Edison lights and were more so looking to use it for my backyard patio rather than in the home. Since all the fixtures in the home ( i.e. lights, door knobs, faucets in the bathrooms and curtain rods ) were oil bronze rub, I wanted to try to stay neutral in the home. No too much glam style or rustic farmhouse style and definitely not traditional. I change my decor out every season and all holidays. I rather add colorful accents peices then to buy colorful furniture. Buying the chandelier first before buying art etc does seem like a better idea. Just finding the right one to set the tone for the remainding of the house is overwhelming.
The table is 95inch long.

What is your ceiling height in entry and dining room? That makes a big difference in what fixtures will work. Hanging at the right height is next. Do you have a ballpark budget for the two fixtures that you want to stay within?

We changed our front door to an iron and glass door after we had been in our new DFW home for about a year. We went with Love That Door (Grapevine and Frisco showrooms) and are so happy that we made the investment. We are in the process of replacing a French door to our patio with an iron and glass door from the same company and believe it will add style and value to our home. Don't hesitate to replace your door with something you love. It's nice not to have the same door as your neighbors.

Thank you guys so much for your input. I decide I will paint the ceiling maybe one of these colors. I decided to not do black; simply because when I put the iron door in, it will overwhelm the space with the dark paint. These are the paint choices with area rugs I Am deciding on. I also included some light fixtures I am interested in. I need something that will blend in with the walls sorta but shine. Not take away from the iron door and wont take focus from the dinning room fixture or living room fixture I will put in.

NO to those door styles. When you look at the front of your house, there are already many different styles there. The craftsman paned windows, tudor arch and swoopy roof, Your house needs to decide what style it is and choose a door that compliments it. Do not add a modern door to the mix.

Again, I recommend you not buy an iron door. Because the front of the home is already busy and you want to modernize the interior, I recommend a very simple door that does not scream a particular style. A simple door with diffused glass. Similar to the one you show on the left, but no grid lines.

For the table, I recommend a linear or oval chandelier.

Could you post an exterior photo of entry so we can see outside elevation. Stand back far enough so we can understand the architecture.

I have saw similar homes like mines with the same floor plan with the iron door and it's really beautiful inside and outside. Also many of the homes in our community have them which is a upgrade. I've been sold on it since I move to texas. I wanted one of those castle block doors, but it defeated the purpose on why I was changing my current door out after I closed on the new home. If you have any door suggestions please show me, but I haven't seen any other doors that interest me besides this one. I should also note I dont have much experience with any type of entry door styles and how they correlate with the space. Here is the model home, and some homes in my neighborhood with the same exact style and floorplan.

The door on the house you show above is quite different from the door you selected. The door above pulls in both the linear lines and curved lines. The door you selected is all curves.

Hey CDR Designs, I didn't pay attention to it. I just knew it was that type of iron door I was aiming for. Most of the homes have those type of doors in the community. When we purchase one, it would be with less curving of the iron and more striaght iron lines.

I just know I do not want one of those half wood doors and half glass doors, a solid wood door, or a curve door. I just want something of that type of door. hehehe

You need to coordinate the door, entry chandy for sure. The dining should “relate” but doesn’t have to be matchy matchy.

Flo, I agree so far you guys have helped me narrow down to what I want now. No faux plants. A nice wall paper in the niche followed by a sculpture. round rug to emphasize the rotunda foyer and maybe a table in there.

So far, foyer ceiling walls will be one of these colors with trim around the circle. The foryer rug and chandelier will be something similar to what you post and this. I want to bring some mercury products into the space.

Once I get that, I can play off the foyer for the dining room towards to living room to make it a more seamless transition.

I think I will stop by lamps plus tomorrow and grab a few ideas.

I don't want the space to be traditional or too modern. I was trying to aim for a more transitional, modern contemporary, rustic look if that makes sense. Hence the cool paint color choice I choosed and all the neutral furniture I have. I will def get the iron door with maybe more lines and less curves but the modern door is definitely out the question.

Type in rugs. In the home decor categories click on rugs. Then filter by style. I checked off, contemporary, beach style, transitional modern and rustic. Filter by price which I checked between 125 under. Filter by shape which I selected round. I'm new to houzz but still learning how to work houzz site.

My husband is responsible for the color and stone on the outside of the home. He loves dark colors. If it were up to me, I would have had the current brick we have (antique brick) and pure white stone. The garage and the brown trim on the home would have been a florida beach grey :). Since we're married and this was our first home purchase, I did that weird thing called compromise. I choose everything on the inside and he choose everything on the outside. Never again lol!

Well Ashley. You did really well for a first home. Your hubby did a pretty good job. I would have advised one less color outside but it probably fits into the neighborhood. I will be back tomorrow.

I am going to go get some sample paints today . I have some new ideas. So what do you guys think about adding some type of neutral shiny sparkly tile to the niche? I was thinking about doing that or adding some type of neutral wall paper with texture and then add my colorful accent piece. The idea was to paint the niche whatever color I was going to painting the ceiling. Maybe add some additional trim around the frame of it also. I know these blues aren't neutral but they are soooo pretty. I am also very picky on what type of blue I like. I want to keep everything pretty neutral with different shades of the neutral color and just add lots of textures around if I don't go with the blue. I get tired of color very fast which makes me not want to choose it. I decorate every season and every holiday. Whatever I choose, I need to make sure it will go into my seasonal and quarterly changes. Another reason why I like to stay neutral. I also want to add this isn't my forever home and we will be moving in a year or two. I also want to stay away from tans and browns. The first picture is wall paper and tile choices. The second picture is ceiling color choices.

If I do some type of tile, what kind do you recommend?

What about the peel and stick tile?

Wall paper suggestions that is east to remove?
Any additional paint colors that isn't concentrated such black, tan, orange, yellow, browns, pinks, or reds?

I knew you'd previously said that this wasn't your forever home, but didn't realize you'd be moving in a year or two. Two years is going to absolutely fly by, not to mention how quickly a year will pass. Seriously - January 2020 will be here in the blink of an eye. Are you sure you want to sink $$ into tile and paint and a front door and a chandelier and all the other things you're considering? I completely understand you wanting to make your house a home in the "here and now", but the things you're considering will cost money and won't necessarily add value when it's time to move. And it sure sounds like your time to move will be upon you before you know it. You're just now moving into this house, right? I strongly suggest you settle in with what you have and give yourself some time to breathe in the new space -- and truly assess where you want to want to allocate funds.

Totally unsolicited advice, I'm aware (and absolutely not meaning to sound condescending), but please take it in the vein it's intended from someone who is older and has "been there" before you.

I can always take the light fixture with me. I will not be painting the whole house just the niche and the ceiling. You're absolutely right and I am not offended by your comment, nor does it come off as condescending. It is much greatly appreciated. Without going into much detail, this is our first home property. I always wanted to buy a home, while my spouse never wanted to because he felt it tied him down to one location. I think I mention up above that we move quiet often also. I know that I probably wont be able to fully decorate the house to my liking but atleast I got the chance to decorate it and we finally owned something. We relocated to the dfw area back in December 2017 and as soon as we move out here we started house searching. The deal between my spouse and I, was on the notion that he get me a home, stay for atleast a year and then we can move to where he wants. ( Compromise) we get to spend the holidays with our families and be closer to them. That was the deal. We offically been in the dfw area for 1 year and 1 month. I always knew we would be living sooner than later, but he met the agreement. I just want to own something that.was ours and do what we like. We have been renting for 13 years moving and moving
and it gets tiring. We just hit our 30s and realize if we have kids, they will need to be homeschooled by a private tutor. I know it may seem like plenty of work, but I can always re attach the standard light fixtures back into the home and take the ones we buy with us to our new location. I have already axed out the tile idea lol. Bening in this home is my dream.right now and finally executing everything I dream off for over the past decade.
