Along with the above suggestions, I'd put one larger piece of art on the wall you look at through the doorway and paint the vent the same color as the wall so it disappears.

I would suggest removing the sign, adding bifold doors to the closet, Painting the two tone wall one color, and adding a large piece of art to that back wall.

my hallway was just painted last month. the trim between the colours isnt up yet. the vent yes needs to be painted. my whole hallway is covered in family photos so it suits more to have them like that, I originally had a large peice of art there but it made my hallway look unbalanced. welcome sign will be moved to my front door, good idea. the pictures will be moved also, as I'll be putting my dining table near by. I was thinking maybe vines down the sides, or a barn looking door on the left side, maybe a floating shelf with flowers atop? I'm unsure... I like the cc keep it coming please

There is no reason to decorate around a square opening that leads into a hall. Just ignore it.

Please, no barn doors in your home; that is definitely yesterday's trend. I would not put the welcome sign anywhere; I'm sorry, but it just looks tacky. I also wouldn't put anything around the doorway. Beautiful paintings will always make any room look better. If that's not your thing then just leave things bare; that's still better than objects that don't have much meaning.

What is the closet open to? Anything but a mud room, yes I would want doors to hide the messy. I would also want doors on a pantry so choose a door that will work for your future plans too. Hopefully the "welcome" will peel off easily. You are correct, it is not well placed.

Definitely get rid of the Welcome decal - the ones that have you place individual letters are the worst because unless you have a keen awareness of kerning (distance between letters within a word), then it's extremely easy to place the letters wrong. In this case, the letters are slightly askew and the kerning is off. It would drive me insane.

As for removing the decal, it's possible, but takes patience if you don't want to damage the paint. A friend of mine bought a house that had a huge awful "family tree" decal with little picture frames so you could tape photos to the wall. He eventually succeeded in removing it without damaging the paint.
