Help with laundry backsplash layout

Need help with how to make a backsplash work in this space -

How would you run a subway tile backsplash in this laundry room? Do you run it just below the cabinetry? Or, do you run it just over the countertop area? Or along the entire back wall, even behind the washer and dryer, taking it up a few inches above the bottom of the wall cabinet? Thank you!

Is anything going above the left machine - like a rod for hanging clothing above the machine?

Possibly a hinged rod that could anchor to the cabinet - if such a thing exists? The window prevents anchoring a rod on both sides.

Can’t you anchor it above the window? It seems like you would want it that high anyway to leave room for shirts or pants to hang down...but I’m just judging by the picture and don’t know the actual heights

I would tile the whole wall.

Thank you all for your input. It seems "whole wall" is the consensus.

Heather N- I discovered that in the image the window height isn't accurately portrayed. The actual top of the window is at nearly 8 feet - 15" from the ceiling - a bit too high to place a rod (my husband could reach it but not me!). While I like the extra light it provides, the window sure creates design challenges!

So is this just a mock-up and not a real photo?

If this is a mock-up, I would have the cabinets go all the way across. Or alternatively, not have any cabinets above the washer/dryer. It seems very out of balance to me the way it currently is. Maybe floating shelves above the washer/dryer would be better. Have you thought about how you are going to be able to reach inside the cabinet over the dryer? Just a thought!

We are in mid-reno phase with cabinetry arriving soon, so I used a rendered image (previously the washer and dryer were on opposite ends of the 9'x6' room/hallway with only 2 base cabinets and a long open shelf for storage). It's not a perfect design - but we really needed extra storage and wanted to preserve the natural light from the window. The wall cabinets are a custom 15" depth which should help with access over the dryer (with less-utilized items stored at the back).

Can you run the cabinets to the ceiling? Then you don’t have to dust and makes it less of a decision of where to run the backsplash. Good rendering program, by the way!!!

We are considering doing that- cabinets are already going to be set high to allow for a top loading washer but we may try to extend the crown.

How wide is the space by the window? Can you fit a pull down rod?
