After the storm

Harper dumped enough snow here to cover most of the gardens which is a blessing given the subzero temps we got over a couple of days along with the wind chill factor. First time I've had to call for a plow to do our driveway. Couldn't get to the garage nor would our snowblower be able to get through the snow drifts. High winds have now calmed down today and sun is shining. Hopefully we can get the walkways open.

How did everyone else make out?

Hi Julie , after preparing for the worst, (predicted highs of 15 to 20 cm. of snow possible with streamers off Lake Huron capable of dumping much more ) , ....thank you "weather guesserators! " we only got about maybe 2 inches . Winds were high though and temps bitter ( they got that right at least between -20 and -25 Celcius) . I went out to water and feed my chickens saturday morning and when I looked down to the farthest part of the property it looked as if it had snowed and then someone had run up and down with a snowplow and removed all the snow ....you could see the grass through the snow . So I am guessing with nothing there to stop it the snow was just blown away by the high winds . Very odd as the snow was left everywhere else..

At first the forecast called for up to 2 feet of snow but we ended up getting about 8 inches where I am. It was the temps yesterday and last night that were brutal. Schools were on a 2 hour delay this morning. The wind howled all day and last night, bringing down some branches in my yard. My weather station put the wind chill at -20 F. This afternoon it is a 'balmy' 16 degrees and the sun is out which feels like heaven now.

yes, Celeste, it is bitterly cold out there right now but feels lovely compared to yesterday......funny how our perspective changes dependant on what we have previously experienced. LOL!

We only got a dusting of snow here, and I am thankful for that.

Today has been bad, everything is covered with ice, drizzling all day. We didn’t leave the house today. Watched a visitor fall on the driveway across the street, she’s ok. Hubbie took a small spill and is fine. My four dogs thought they could walk on the snow, no dice. Had to rescue my twelve pounder after her weight broke the ice cover.

We only got about an inch of snow, gone now. Had some cold days here and there, in the teens. We occasionally get below 0, but not often. Not much snow though, I am always surprised that I rarely completely lose daylilies, but I do often lose fans overwinter, and I think it weakens some of them that they may not survive the summer.

We are experiencing the freezing rain today but temps are on the rise and it is changing over to rain now. It will take a lot of rain to melt all the snow we have which is probably a good thing since the temps will be headed back down by Friday. Only 56 more days till the first day of spring :)

Not much to report here. Lots and lots of rain, heading to another record wet year again? A little snow a couple of times on the back end of the rain, but we are heading to a frozen weather pattern next week, and I'm sure most of you will feel it too.
