It looks as if the box for a ceiling light already is installed in the center of the dining area. It would not have to be a low-hanging light, though, so that people could walk freely around the room. I would stick with this centered arrangement since you have a lovely wood floor with a contrasting border around it. However, I would suggest a round dining table so that people can walk around it without running into any corners.

I'd center the table with the opening/room. A round table would be easier to get around so that may be the way to go. If you do go for a square/rectangle table skip the bench. No one over the age of 5 enjoys sitting on them
