Cute sweater, Elizabeth! I recently finished a cardigan for myself so now I'm working on a quilt that I am hand piecing and hand applique-ing. When I get to a stopping point I may go back to my ongoing crochet project - I think the pattern is called Cloverleaf. It's by Red Heart and I'm making it to use up a bunch of little balls of yarn. I'll eventually assemble the squares into lap afghans and donate them to the local nursing facility.

I'm always crocheting. Here are some recent projects:

Piano Keys Afghan given as a Christmas gift to a close friend who plays piano at church. (I had not tucked all the tails when I took this picture. LOL!)

Angel Face Roses Afghan--finished a week or so ago and sold already.

Southwestern Reflections Afghan. You can use scraps, which is what I did. Each end has different colors used--tan with peach and taupe with lilac. Rest of the afghan uses the same colors in each section.

]Currently working on a "Farmer In the Dell Afghan." It has 10 squares (animals--turkey, dog, cat, rabbit, hen, owl, lamb, duck, squirrel, and pig), 2 medium rectangles (barn and cow), and one large rectangle that has a farmer. I have finished the squares for the hen, duck, lamb, cat, owl, duck, pig, and squirrel. Here's the hen (excuse the tails, which I have yet to tuck). The squares measure about 12.5 inches across.

I am knitting a baby blanket for our next and probably last grandson. He is due about April 1st, so I should be able to complete it in time. I also want to crochet trim on plain diapers for burp cloths. We will see what I can get done before he arrives. I will wait for his birth before crocheting what I call the Name Blanket. I use an ABC pattern, but spell out the baby's full name, date of birth and weight too if I need the length. This one will have a row of sailboats across the bottom and a row of cars across the top.

Those afghans are just beautiful. You put my crochet skills to shame. I have crocheted simple baby blankets but I am mostly a sock knitter.

I tried knitting and never got the knack for that. My gauge was always "off."

I used to work at hotel overnight and could do what I wanted once the paperwork for the day was finished. I found I could only watch TV or read for so long, so I taught myself to crochet. Plus there isn't much on TV (even now) after midnight. <grin> That was more than 35 years ago.

I mostly crochet afghans, but also do dishcloths and tissue box covers. Will post more pictures of the Farmer In the Dell afghan when I'm finished.

I used to knit afghan squares at work years ago but I didn't want the boss to know how much free time I had. I knew he would notice if it was one big piece. If he asked I told him I got a couple done a week. I was doing the log cabin style squares.

I grinned when I read your comment about the boss not catching on to how much free time you had. Too funny!

I belong to an online Ravelry group called “Aussies Knitting for War Affected Kids” (AKWAK for short). We make warm clothes, blankets, toys and accessories for Syrian orphans in the refugee camps there. When the annual shipment gets to the camps they send us photos and videos of the distribution so we can see our items being received by the kiddies. It’s a thrill if you spot something you’ve made.

This afghan, called Victorian Petals, had been on the backburner since early January because I had run out of white yarn as I was finishing it. I had two long seams (lengthwise) and the edging to finish. Michaels was out when I checked during the first week of January. I finally picked a pounder up last Saturday. The pattern calls for ONE flower color and 6 or 7 "different" motifs to fill in the other squares, but I used scraps for the flowers and different shades of green for the popcorn sections.

Popcorn Flowers Scrap Afghan. This is my own design (no printed pattern). I created two different squares: one with popcorns for the second round; the other with double crochet clusters for the second round. I alternated the types of flower squares when assembling the afghan. I used scraps for the flowers and the green rounds, bordering everything with off white. I then added a fan styled edging using treble crochets to finish it off. The size is about 45" x 62". Close-ups below:

Panda Baby Afghan done using requested colors. The panda is worked from a grid. The bow-tie can be made any color (except white/black or the main color). I've made quite a few of these over the years. I only use the panda panel pattern, then create my own edging each time because I don't care for the printed pattern's edging. For this baby afghan I used popcorns to frame the panel and then added another set as I finished the edging. The finised size is larger than I'd normally make a baby afghan, again by request. The finished size is about 32" x 50". A few close-up below:

I've been crocheting, but put a couple afghans on the back burner for a bit until I could snag more yarn in the appropriate colors. Here's a catch-up:

Splash O' Color Scrap Afghan done with white as the neutral color. (I've made this before using black as the neutral color.) I also added a round of double crochets to the motif to make is a little larger and avoid having to make nearly 100 motifs. Finished size is about 45-inches by 65-inches.

An Americana Afghan in a Leisure Arts leaflet. It is called "Old Glory."

The center panel consists of 35 star motifs. Then the edging is added. I used navy, white, and burgundy. The finished size is about 46-inches x 60-inches.

I added one round of reverse single crochet (sometimes called shrimp stitch) to the edging (last round) to give a more finished "rolled" look. This stitch also resists stretching.

Medallion Scrap Afghan. The motifs measure 8-inches across. The finished afghan has 40 motifs and measures about 42-inches x 65-inches. I even used up the shorter scrap pieces when I added the edging. (I hate throwing those 1 to 7 yard scraps away. <grin>)
