I would mount floor length drapery panels at ceiling height, two panels on each window, a panel on each side of the window. It will add immediate visual height to the windows. Nice room!

I would get right balance with a curtains. Hang them higher than wall art.

Agree with @Celerygirl. You can create the illusion of larger windows with the size of the drapery panels, creating a much more proportional look.

would I be able to get a similar look with a roman shade or cornice hung higher than the window? The double curtains really look good.

I'm not a huge fan of outside mount roman shades, and cornices without drapery panels won't do the trick.

Blinds mounted high with drapes could be very pretty.

What did you use to add the drapes on the picture?

I would consider changing the art above the fireplace, it seems to add dark to the darkness below and seems to be too large making the windows appearing undersized. Add outside mount Roman blinds to your windows, see the photo attached, note they are up higher on the wall. The art is large but bright. Normally art is not larger than the firebox unless on a very tall wall.

Use woven shades to raise the appearance of the windows and then add drapery panels.

Thanks Beverly I love the woven shades with the drapery panels it hides the odd piece of wall between the window and the ceiling. I will try some different artwork

I haven’t gotten the drapes yet but changed out the art to a smaller piece with more color. Not sure.

Way to small of an art piece. Are should be 2/3 to 3/4 the size of the fireplace. Depending what u are putting on what u are on the mantel on the mantle on

The art piece is too small and no vases on fireplace. I personally think you need something with more length for the fireplace and just a bit shorter than the original art. I think Roman shades, outer mount, could work. And a low cabinet for tv and comfy chairs.

Also your ceiling lights do not have the right bulbs installed. Those appear to be R Bulbs.

They lean too yellow and the light they put out is 'fuzzy' in appearance. Not crisp.

Find an LED PAR bulb that fits your fixture and changing the bulbs will change the room appearance. Make sure they are on a dimmer.

There's a label inside the recessed light that will indicate what PAR bulb will fit your fixture.
