Looks like stained red oak. Someone took the time to compliment the red stained trim. It appears to be in decent shape. Good find.

Great find! Talk about instant value. It looks like #1 Grade or better Red Oak. The longer plank lengths make me think its original to the home. If you do decide to refinish look at a water based natural finish.

Thanks for the info! At the time (I know Ill get some dislike for this!) Im going to cover it with a floating floor. I have 2 young boys, 3 cats, & 2 dogs. The dogs are a concern w/ the original floor. One is young & still being potty trained. The other is older and I fear bladder issues with age. I dont want the original floor ruined & down the road I plan to show it off.

Wow, usually a wood floor under carpet is trashed and requires sanding and refinish. This looks perfect. I wouldn't even touch it.

After carpet removed. In person you can see a lot of spots from staples/tack strips being removed but once refinished/stained it will clean up nice. I have chosen to cover w/ bamboo flooring for now but in time I will uncover this!

Just don't allow the installer to modify or undercut the trim or doors to install the floating floor. Some installers will want to undercut the trim to slide the floor under. Be clear that you don't want the trim modified and that the future plans are to reveal to original floors. Modifying the trim or doors will create big problems when you want to restore the original floors.
