backsplash? 5x3 powder room

Planning on installing a round small corner sink.
Do I need a backsplash?
How wide and high should I go with it?
What design/ colour?
Basic white subway?

Where to locate towel rack and holder for paper?

Agree with Sina. My hall bath functions as a powder room. I did not put a backsplash in when I remodeled it and three years later it is still just fine -- no nasty splashes on the wall. It does get regular guest use (3 or 4 times per week and heavier use on holidays) I did use the type of paint recommended for bathrooms. Just be sure whoever is installing the sink is a master caulker as you will need a line of caulk where the sink meets the wall and a sloppy caulk job will ruin the look.

Looks like a towel ring or short towel bar will just fit to the right of the sink, once it’s installed. Is there room to the left, as you’re sitting on the toilet, for a toilet paper hanger?

BTW, as small as that space is, I’d rather have the powder room than not! Such a convenience.

Whatever you do, don’t put the towel holder to the left of the sink between the sink and the toilet! Enough said!

    Thanks for the advice.
Yes tp holder can fit on the wall to the R or L of the toilet.

Towel rack to the R of the sink, ok.

    No backsplash, master caulker.
Trash can... either back side of toilet or at the entrance to the right.

It is small, but large enough for basic use.
More comfortable than an airplane washroom.

We will see once the sink is in.

    Such a convenience!

using mirrors on one wall to make this look bigger would prob be a good idea. For instance, doing the tall wall to the right, (or the entire wall behind the toilet) with a floor to ceiling mirror would give the illusion of more space.

here are some other design ideas

don't be afraid to something bold.

How to balance the look of a Mirror, since it will not be above the corner sink.

I’m keeping a low budget on this powder room.

Couple of questions: Is that a window to the left of the sink where you have TP rolls? Were you planning to use a Roman shade at the window, a valance, shutters? Certainly, you can look for a tall, thin mirror that fits on the wall over the sink, but I might try to compliment the window by using a piece of mirror and framing it exactly like the window. So the corner would have a window on the left and a mirror on the right. That area would be less fussy, and then you could enliven the decor however you choose!

Fant, you mirror the entire wall behind the toilet. (or one of the other walls you think would work better) My sister did an entire wall in her bathroom and it looked huge. I have half a wall done in my spare bath (wainscot below it) and it really gives the illusion of more light and space.

mirrors are cheap at home depot. buy a glass cutter and cut them to fit. attach w/mirror adhesive to the wall. it's an easy/cheap DIY
