Convert Tub to a shower

We are trying to decide if we should purchase a 1920's coastal Cape Cod home that we love or build a new beach cottage. The coastal cape cod has been remodled but we would like to remove the ceramic tub and tile surround and install a shower . (as we age we feel safer in a shower) What is a reasonable price to complete such a project if no other concerns are discovered?
