Put the counters in first, then figure out a backsplash (if you are tiling and not doing the 4” backsplash piece of counter material), then pick paint.

Ok so then maybe I should be asking for countertop suggestions. I know that I want quartz. I was thinking of white with some sort of gray veining. Any other suggestion of what else you think would work well in the space?

I really think this quartz works nicely with white cabinets and various sizes/style subway backsplash.

I think your kitchen isn’t bright enough. Not enough lighting. If you flood your kitchen with enough lights then you can think of different color options. Right now, you have only light color options. What is great about white cabinets is that it can work wide wide verity of colored backsplash. I think light gray backsplash will work the best.

Consider taking a door with the two cabinet colors to the counter store. This way you can find something that works with both. If you don’t want to take doors off take a picture and pick up samples to bring home.

With your cabinet colors and flooring, I would pick a light, warmer countertop and then backsplash (ie: not bright white and gray). And I agree with iamtiramisu — choose paint last .

Don’t paint until the counter and backsplash colours can inform your decision.

The one in black has 18 light fixtures proving enough light.
The one in white has 10 light fixtures and space is twice as much.
The one in dark brown is studio apartment kitchen, very small, but has 8 light fixtures.
All 3 are different from each other, because those where my clients choices. But all have one feature that they share - amount of light!
Light should be coming from all around, not only from the ceiling.
I was told from early childhood to never argue about the taste. There are as many tastes on the planet earth as living organisms. So, if my clients likes something I don’t argue. I may suggest something, but it doesn’t mean I’m correct. If the client is intending to sell the house, then I make suggestions about market conditions and what most people like. Sometimes I tell my clients not to even bother doing any upgrades, because capital improvement doesn’t add enough value to justify expenses.
That’s my recommendation. If she doesn’t have enough lighting, then she should pick the lighter color backsplash, because of reflective properties of lighter color objects. despite color of her countertop.
