We are doing a board and batten wainscot in our dining room and i'm putting down 1/8" hardboard as the base since our walls have a ton of ugly texture. I plan to use construction adhesive on the backside, but would also like to use another fastener.

I've got a crown stapler and a brad nailer...which one would do a better job for that thin hardboard?
