Geez why select brass........you don't have a bit of it in the room. Those shelves are not really deep enough for towel storage. I might have considered mounting cubes on the wall or a closed cabinet. Your black glass shelf unit is so charming, why select something that pulls attention away from it.

I agree that the brass brackets don't really go with anything else in the space. You also need to consider how heavy the marble shelves are. IMO towels hung above a toilet are not very appealing no matter how high.

How high are your ceilings?

Actually, I've chosen to go with mixed metals and have brass pulls and mirrors combined with chrome elsewhere. Also planning on a turkish rug instead of your standard bath mat... Too busy?

It's not just the brass color, but the style of it. It's reading very Art Deco which isn't reflected in the rest of the bathroom. I'm not sure marble shelves are the way to go either. It's not the same as the countertop so they don't really match. Maybe try repeating the grey from the vanity or the wood from the window frame in the shelves to pull it all together.

How about a piece of art there instead?

I love the shelves, but they're a bit small for towels. Really they'd only be useful for decorative items. I'd love to see art work on that wall, either one bigger piece or two smaller pieces stacked on over the other.

If you do want to add the shelves, you'll need to get rid of the black shelf as it doesn't go with anything in your washroom.

I always worry about items small and large falling off open shelves above and into the toilet. Perhaps a print or photo secured to the wall and use your current piece for the towels, etc.

As a tall person, I'd want the height to be well above what I might hit my head against when I worked on standing up. This will also affect the depth of at least the lowest shelf. One does move forward as one stands, but one doesn't want to feel crimped on the way up (or down).
