It would help if you could post pictures of the items you refer to. I'd say that black should not be under consideration.

The headboard in the top photo is similar to mine.

That headboard looks more like walnut than oak. Painting oak anything usually is not a great success.

Thanks for your comments. I didn't realize it was so hard to paint oak. I've decided to keep the oak as is!
