Incorporating navy without making the bathroom too dark?

I did a foolish thing and ordered a vanity in navy blue without thinking through the challenge of making the shower walls relate to it. In my defense, there are not a lot of vanities available in corner configurations so ... live and learn.

The tile stores around me have so many shades of gray I'm a little sick of gray. The existing bath was vintage 60's turquoise. I miss the cheerful color already, it is the only first floor bath so it gets a lot of use as a powder room, not a lot of traffic in the shower. I want it to read "happy" and not "serious".

Any ideas how to visually link a shower surround with a navy vanity, without making navy tiled walls? This is the best option I have found so far:

Other colors:

Tub base is cast iron, white glaze.

Floor is TBD but likely Mannington Adura in Porcelain (very light grey with swishy movement)

Metal finishes are all chrome

Toilet and sink are white, vanity countertop is TBD.

I appreciate any and all suggestions. Daltile makes an amazing turquoise that is so special, but probably not a fit with navy.

Well I really don't think your shower has to tie in with the navy. The navy can stand alone. you could do the shower all white it you so choose. If you are missing the turquoise already that is certainly a color you can use with the navy. One easy way to get navy on there if you want it is to do white tiles on wall of shower and a small navy tile on the floor of shower or a shampoo bump in. A navy glass tile is sometimes brighter than a navy porcelain and you could do a band of that too if you so choose. Or you can choose an accent tile that combines several blues.

In my upstairs bath I just did a glass tile accent shown below to tie into their aqua colored vanity

Pink's post doesn't seem navy, but lighter, brighter, happier.

If medium blue pennyround on shower base with snow white subway, etc... what about snowy canvas over the tub... to tie it together. Had enough snow... ;-)

Counter could repeat basic floor color ?

Here's designer's comment about bedroom: "Victoria Blue rich but not formal here." … room has 3 blue colors, and possibly they're on the same paint strip: showing light sky carpet, bright walls, navy bedding.

With your navy vanity's color picked out on a strip, you could go up into light, or with sort of bright....but I mean paint, and not tile. I assume that's entering into it... white tile as pink said will always work, even without blue accent.

These are great suggestions, thank you! I'm heading to a tile store today so the rapid feedback is SO helpful. I can't believe I forgot about the niche, that is a great way to tie in some brighter color. Or, as everdebz suggested, how about paint?

I'm doing the kitchen, bathroom, mudroom, and dining room all at once so I think my braincells are on overload. Thank you!!

I would just keep it simple and not add navy/blue accents in the shower. If some day you want to change the vanity color, then it would just be the expense of paint. If you had blue tile accents, then it would be a larger expense for the renovation.

Just paint is ok. Photos show how nice navy and white is.

Tile probably best in matte look, and not glassy, imo. For a beautiful nautical/ beach look - glass good and watery.

Wouldn't your current paint blend with your furniture? In a small-ish room, nothing wrong with no accent wall.

Check out Aqua Blue pool mosaics, particularly their wave patterns. They have some gorgeous tiles not typically thought of for bathrooms that would make a stunning border in a shower, wall or floor and would tie in with your vanity.

You don't need to do any other navy. White works with everything. If you have a niche in the shower, then you could add some blue accent there. If your floor will be a bit gray from what you mention, you could bring some of that color in the shower Some ideas..
