Go to the better tile showrooms in your area and check what they have; there's plenty of good brands. Your criteria of what you need will help to narrow down the best looking one for you.

Emser has a number of marble-look tiles. It has showrooms around the country where you can view its products and from which you can get samples.

We found some beautiful porcelain faux marble tiles from Stonepeak. Ended up selecting the calacatta oro.

I agree with the Emser comment above. They have a new one that looks really good, but I'm sorry I can remember the name. If you have an Emser near you, go take a look and ask them to show you the newest option.

Floor & Decor has a new one that looks close to the real thing. It is 4"x 8" & is called Veneto Bianco Porcelain Tile ( SKU: 100559152). It is not terribly expensive, around $3.50sf at my local store. I will say that you need to see it "in person" as the online picture doesn't do it justice. I am remodeling my tiny full guest bathroom and plan to use this on the shower walls that are going in next week. F&D also has some great options in larger faux marble but they were too large for my application.

@Patricia Mills - you recommended a porcelain tile in the comment above two years ago. Would you mind posting photos of you bathroom? I‘m trying to narrow down my selections for a renovation of my hall bathroom. Thank you!

I saw these beautiful porcelain slabs a few weeks ago. They're available in both gloss and matte. LMK if you want more photos of the actual slabs!

@Julie K - did you use one of the above porcelain slabs for the countertop in your kitchen and/or bathroom? I would love to use a porcelain countertop in my kitchen but have read so many comments about how difficult they are to fabricate. I would also love to see photos of the entire slabs. Thanks!

@dani_m08, I'll post more pics of the glossy slabs for you tonight. We haven't finalized our design so haven't installed anything yet, but if you live near any Neolith dealers see if they have any ultrasoft slabs for you to view.

I saw them last week and OMG they're stunning!!! I promise my photos don't do them justice. My designer was totally wowed by how much they look (and more importantly feel) like real marble! I saw it next to the silk finish and much preferred the ultrasoft finish.

We're now considering using the ultrasoft slabs for our project (I need 2 for our primary suite) if we can find a really good, experienced installer with excellent references. Holy smokes, the discussions below are filled with numerous warnings/complaints so not sure I want to take the risk since this is our forever home!

@Julie K - well, your posts sure haven’t been very helpful! I just commented on a post (people are having issues with Compaq’s slab) saying that the post had me me realize that I just needed to go ahead and use marble on my island and find a complementary quartz/granite for my perimeter cabinets. And then I ran across your posts about the Neolith Calacatta ultrasoft slabs - and now my head is spinning again!!!

These slabs appear to be the PERFECT solution for those of us who love marble - but are questioning whether we want to deal with the accompanying issues. The key is finding an experienced fabricator! If you can’t find one in the SF Bay Area, not sure I’m going to find one out here in the midwest! I do happen to live in a city where MANY countertop manufacturers have showrooms/distribution centers - not sure if Neolith is here. Guess I better start searching!

@dmac, I think I found an experienced Neolith fabricator! For anyone in the SF Bay Area Fox Marble averages one porcelain installation a day!!

For our job the cost of two slabs is about $4,000 which isn't bad, but our installation quote came in over $8500 for what I thought was some pretty basic cuts (counters, backsplash and 3 sinks)!!!

We're leaning towards moving forward because I've not seen any other materials I like nearly as much as the ultrasoft slabs!

@Julie K - I had a feeling that you’d find a good fabricator! While $8,500 is a bit pricey, I understand why you’re thinking about going forward with it. I’m sure the slabs will look BEAUTIFUL when installed. Keep your fingers crossed for me - I REALLY want to get this decision behind me so I can move forward with my renovation!

@Julie K it's been a while since your countertops were installed. Still loving the material? I've just read so many bad comments about chipping and cracks that I'm nervous. Very split reactions on porcelain on houzz

Ceramic Tile Design in the SF Bay Area stocks porcelain, quartz and natural stone slabs which means you can look and touch easily. We also have a list of fabricators that will work with you!

they have come along leaps and bounds over that last two years, and fabricators are getting more and more familiar with them. They also have suppliers who will visit with fabricators to walk them through best practices!

Yes, I'm still loving our Neolith counters. So farno chips/warranty issues/post installation problems, knock wood!

I would choose it again, no regrets so far... :)

@Julie K did you use neolith for your kitchen counters? How is it holding up so far?

I am considering neolith/dekton for my kitchen remodel, but am unsure after reading so many stories of the material chipping.
