Heat Pump Defrost. Working Right?

We've had un-Seattle weather for the last week or two, and I took a look at the heat pump last night and found ice build-up on the side fins of the Mitsubishi P-Series unit. I took a few pictures this morning, and I'm wondering if it's something to be concerned about. The back seems clear except for some frost on the fins. The heat exchanger stops every now and then and I've gone outside to find the frost mostly melted off, so the defrost cycle seems to be working and the house is warm, but the ice buildup on the side persists.

Should I (a) consider this normal and not worry about it; (b) get a hair dryer and melt it off; (c) call for service; or (d) other?
