It's possible they could even be seedlings that have no names. Likely in fact.

They don't appear to be Optimaras. I've never seen Optimara use red tags.

They are quite nice specimens, however.

I like them...especially the whit/pink one. It looks like a little 'cabbage rose' bloom. I have never seen one like it. And the simple purple one, is one of my favorite colors. Once they are in my care a while, get bigger, and are not crowded with lots of tiny side plants, they will be better. I like 1 plant, 1 crown. I just like to know plants names. My 2 Russian fantasies that I have, have double blooms of a hot pink with a green edge and VERY 'frilly' leaves, and the other one has pink/purple splashed blooms, with very variegated leaves and frilled leaves, are two of my favorites. Like their names, very odd, but they are Russian names:)

Never know if someone else bought these, and found out the names. If they end up being 'Noids', I will keep them, just like to know names.

I think there is a garden department manager in Walmart. If you manage to sweet talk him into looking into their books... you can track the local provider. I know that a lot of store bought AVs in Florida come from Harmony Greenhouses - but they have a different label.

'Irina'....have you EVER found a manager at a Wal-Marts??! EVER?? Come to south Fla. There isn't one to be found in the store! Let alone that would take his/her precious time, to look up where the 6 African violets that they have in their garden center came from. Wow. Love to live where you have managers in Wal-mart that talk to you. :)

hahahaha not in Ft.Laud. i go to Wal-Mart like 2 times a week, and IF I can find a salesperson i am lucky!! This is the first time I EVER saw ANY african violets...and they only had like 6-8. And they were already marked down! From $4 to $3.57....though they might be for Valentines day...but guess not.

I JUST saw a violet on 'SelectiveGardener.com, on its main page. And my pink/white violet sure looks like their 'NEW limited supply' $15 per plant, 'Rocky Mountain'!! What do others think?? It really looks like it. Anyone else think so? But how would it get out.....and be sent to Wal-Mart? Boy, it sure looks like this is it!

"Looks like" or not is irrelevant, unfortunately. Unless you can get the actual name from the supplier --- assuming they had the name for it -- you are out of luck. There are many look alike hybrids out there, and if it was a seed grown plant as Dbarron mentioned as a possibility then there is no way to know.

I know that. I simply said it looks like this one from this new series, named after some mountain range. This pink/white double one is the newest in the series. It looks a lot like it.

Wow! They are pretty! Nice plants! I would have bought them and just labelled them NOIDS and been happy with them. They are not distinctive enough to know the names for sure, like Opt. Sensation, or Opt Trinidad. Rosie

I went to my Walmart today, but they didn't have any and didn't seem interested at all in checking if any were coming in at all. It fact I got the impression I was kinda in the way and bothering them!

WalMart is not a great place to go looking for Violets.

You'd do much better to browse Lowes, Home Depot, or even Meiers ...

Of course, I don't recommend that you get plants from any of these outlets, ... as their plants, many times, come with pests, particularly Thrips, which will ultimately destroy the beauty of your plants ... and any plants that you already have ...

I found these by pure luck. WalMart NEVER has violets in stock. I always get mine at Lowes...or on EBay from private hobby growers,...starter plants, usually in 2oz Solo cups. Ones that are rare or hard to find, and of course private crosses.

No one here has anything except succulents. That is Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Publix, Kroger, any of the nurseries as far as I care to drive. I guess I could order, but I don't really want anything special, just some different colors.

Ordering might be your best shot. If you've got a few extra dollars, ... take a look at Optimara outlet www.SelectiveGardener.com. There are some great plants being offered, they can send you plants in bloom, and the packing is superb.

My only caveat is that I'd wait another month or so before ordering ...

P.S. They've got a new series LooXo, which features no anthers/pollen sacs. Beyond having a somewhat different look, ... these plants might turn out to be more Thrip resistant ...

turns out the red and white violet i was speaking of is called 'My love' and Optimara variety. Saw it on EBay...a starter plant. $8 for a plug size. And the shipping makes it WAYYY to expensive. $10 to ship 1 plant. I am use to getting shafted on shipping violets, but it is in Fla. to me in Fla, it doesn't need priority shipping, but...thats that:)
