Help choosing media table

I started a different post, trying to save my television cabinet, but all the houzzers said it couldn't be done. So im looking for a new media stand, but am having a hard time deciding what would like best, especially the color! I've just started putting the finished basement together, but have sherwin williams mega greige walls, a gray sectional and am going to accent with navy. The drapes have navy. Ive attached a couple pictures, of the room (although quality with my iPad isn't the best). Should I look for white, navy, light gray or dark gray stand?

RL Relocation LLC..I didn't even consider a wood tone but I see what you mean and I like it...the bar in the back is a dark cherry. Could I still do the lighter wood tone? I really like the console you posted with the lamp to the right. Where is that one from?

I like the look of the white that BeverlyFLADeziner posted as well...the white seems to pop too!

Long, low, all the way across:

I think a warm wood would be a nice counterbalance to the coolness of the room. This mock-up has a media console from Crate and Barrel.

Just make it long and low. I like the one Manon put in your room, but I might move it to one end or the other of the wall and flank it with a chair.

Groveraxle.... do you mean move it toward the opening to hallway and put a small accent chair in the corner? I love that crate and barrel one as well, although I would like it better with some open shielfing, if anyone sees an option with both open and closed shelves.

It's looking like the majority think a warm wood option is best. I'm attaching a picture of the bar area... it's at the other end of the basement. Just to make sure you think the lighter warm wood will be okay along with the dark finish on the bar.

Thanks for that ...was hard to visualize

kq346, I find open shelving is often an invitation to clutter, but that Crate & Barrel one has an option for glass doors. It's called the Ainsworth.

So I went to crate and barrel website and it's more then I wanted to spend...would any of these under $1000 options work? Do any of you have other more economical options that you have seen that would work? I also plan to check a couple Homegoods this weekend and see if they have anything before I order.

Have you looked at IKEA? Lots of inexpensive options there. The ones you posted are a bit fussy in my opinion

Here are several pages of TV stands at all price points that are long and not too tall: https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/sb2/70-inches-and-larger-standard-tv-stands-entertainment-centers-c1868409-a131881~442875-a131882~442877.html?itemsperpage=96

    The one below is $529.

If you want something that won't become dated, choose a piece with simple lines and the longest that will comfortably fit on that wall. Avoid those with the built in fireplaces. (There's something abominable about a fireplace inside a wooden box.)

I can relate as I am still on the quest for a tv console/stand whatever ( TV is wall mounted). I am at the point where I think I have seen just about everything on the market, and actually pretty thankful that I did not opt for some that I thought would work.

Anyway, I do agree that you definitely need longer (wider) and then it truly is a matter of preference. I think I prefer some glass doors as well as wood doors or shelving. I also like the 2nd from the bottom one you had in the first grouping as well as the one above it ( but I prefer the 2nd from bottom because it has both glass and drawers. I personally don't mind mixing woods so I think it would be fine. Also the one grover just linked is very nice, but for me I would prefer with some glass.

Well I just checked, and the one I was preferring from your post is over $1500? oops.

What are the dimensions of the TV and the wall?

make it a feature wall first.. reclaimed wood, shiplap, etc. Mount tv to wall and a tv stand under. Houzz has some beauties in blue 4 door. larger plant and extra chair. boom!

The one I posted is from Wayfair.

Salonva..it's hard isn't it! I'm usually such an impulsive buyer and end up returning stuff, giving it to a friend and loosing money etc! I'm trying to do this right ( but not spend a fortune, for a room we rarely are in!). The wall is 14 1/2 feet long from end to corner, ceilings are 8 or 9 feet.

13myjulie, as much as I love feature walls, if I went from not buying anything to expecting my husband to help with a feature wall, he'd loose his mind! Need to keep it simple for now

I like the one that Groveraxle pictured. long and not too high.

erinsean..I do too! If I don't see one I like better this weekend, that's the one I'm leaning towards. Reasonable price, good reviews and solid wood!

Another one i really like (and consider getting) which also comes in a longer size for you is this Albertyne. It comes in cherry, blue, and bisque. I like the bisque.

it says out of stock, but back in March.

I saw that one on the Birch Lane website.. I like it a lot but it's quite a bit shorter then some of the others. I haven't been out shopping yet, but I like these 4 on the Hayneedle website. I'd love opinions on these before I order...any thoughts??

    Better pics...

Of those, I like the last one best. Be sure to measure on your wall to see how much space they'll before you commit.

I still like the one you posted..hayneedle had it on their website as well...it's was the first on that list of 4 favorites...do you like the bottom one better?

Groveraxle....the wall is 14 1/2 feet long ( entryway to corner) the television is 50 inches across. How much room should I try to leave on the wall?

Here is that last media console pretty much to scale. I estimated its 80" length against your 14.5' wall. I left enough space on the right for a small chair and then put something tall, in this case a lamp, for balance. The tall vases on the left further balance.

You also can use art to balance the wall:

Thanks, Me too! Looks like a real room! I'm a little nervous about ALL the open shelving, wish there was a door or two

K- if you prefer not all glass, there were variations on that.

Definitely with that sizing. I am a great enabler to not come to a decision. Sorry. Do you want more suggestions or to go with the other ones you and Grover found? I think grovers's example shows that there is room for a chair and other decor and it looks good in that size range.

I definitely want that 80 inch range, I love the way he off centered the tv on it and added the chair. I have a favorite, of course it's one of the most expensive but it's a good compromise between open and closed shelves. I'm just going to look over the weekend and make sure before I order that last one Grover posted.

I want this in brown...but I'm not willing to pay over 1000.....soooo!

There was another thread a while back and what do you think of this? Iperhaps compromise? Also, I did want to say that if you decide on one, definitely search around because many of them are on all the usual sites- wayfair- joss and main- home depot you name it. and they all have different promotions so prices can vary by a hundred or more.

Thank you! That Ates is the perfect compromise!

Update....I found one that I love! I just put some things around it that I had here. I'm not sure if I like the idea of the plant ( not this particular one!) or if wall decor or art would look better. Any suggestions for finishing touches?

I like the plant. Unless that is the time out chair for when Hubby is naughty, pull it out of the corner, please. Lower the art on the right and find something bigger for the TV wall.

    kq346 thanked groveraxle

Not a bad idea on time out chair, but I guess I'll pull it out for now! The picture to the right is a canvas of my daughters senior picture...is that the one that needs to be lowered? For that spot between the chair and console would some type of wood/ metal wall decor work? A canvas? Framed glass art? I'm loving the help and the way the room is turning out..I want it to be right so I can be finished and not have to make any,ore returns!

Grover, I have 2 of the abstract pics. should I maybe put them between these two windows? Side by side? Vertical?

You can see the approximate size and placement of the art on the right needed to balance the wall. I'm not a fan of wood and metal wall decor; it always looks mass produced to me. The overhead lights might cause glare on a framed print, so I'd probably opt for a canvas or even a wall hanging, something unique and interesting.

    kq346 thanked groveraxle

They're too wide to hang side by side. Try them vertically, going no higher than the plaque(?) you have there now.

Very nice K~~. already in place too! well done. me, I am still looking. oh well. Curious what are the dimensions of the console (and do you know if it came in any other colors?stains?). Enjoy oh and I love your curtains.

    Queen of indecision.

Salnova, I bought the table at this awesome furniture store called Nadeau. They have beautiful all wood furniture. This came in black and white too. It's a little shorter than I had planned but I think it works! It's 68" long and 29 inches tall.

Btw... your way may better, I'm an impulsive buyer and end up loosing lots of money and/ or wasting a lot of time returning things!

Im so happy you went with the natural wood look! It' perfect!

Ok, that plant has to go get a fake fig instead they just look more realistic, IMO.

The light fixture you have in there is a tad too small, don't know if you can switch it to another room and get something a little bigger here. It will be the jewel to finish off this space.

Take the wood piece between the windows and put that to the right of the tv by the chair. then stack the two prints on the window wall.

RL Relocation...I love that all! Thank you so much. The light is just a cheap builder grade light, I actually have a fixture I love in another room downstairs ( that we never use) I will move it out there. I may be adventurous and try a real plant! The back of the basement is our bar area... we had requested a different layout but the builder didn't relay the info to the guy that did the custom cabinets, so we got what we have but saved money on the price of the house as a compromise. I am going to start a new thread asking for advice on that area ..you may be able to help me incorporate a console table between the windows into the bar area ( it's very awkward!)

    Ill stop by lol.
