Does this table go in with everything???

I'm going for a mix of modern and contemporary
look.

With the table in the background, yes.
With the rest of the room... not so much. You have a nice wood floor and a vintage style ceiling fan but the two tables carry strong, hard, very modern lines. Perhaps if you replace the fan with something sleeker/smoother lines and upswept lighting in the back corners?
What is the décor of the adjoining rooms?

I would start with the ceiling and work my way down. The current ceiling is dated.

Agree that the light fixture and ceiling are very dated. Here are some contemporary lighting examples that will suite the size and style but won't break the bank.

I hope you are going for acrylic dining chairs. They will suit the space without overcrowding.

See, you knew what I meant. :?)
The extra photos help a lot. You have a very nice, safe, color scheme. that just needs a little tweak.

Move the long table from the wall and place it behind the couch. In its place, a large, framed mirror would cause a larger feel.
Replace the ceiling fan with something closer to the "Contemporary Burlap Print Giclee Glow 10 1/4" Wide Pendant Light' that Chemayne posted, above. Use the lamp in front of the window as a guide as far as look, style, color, etc.
Curious as to why there are no chairs at your table. I would follow sam0705's suggestion inclusive of the dramatic, colorful artwork.

    Hope this helps.

I think you have made a good start, but I agree your ceiling fan isn't helping your design and any of the choices presented here would be good. I also like the idea of moving the table to the back of the sofa. Create some verticality and visual division between your rooms by placing matching lamps on that table behind the sofa. A yellow and white geometric rug under your table with with some black parsons chairs would create some drama and contrast in your otherwise all dark room.

I think adding in some drama through artwork to the room (suggested above) will really liven it up and show off the modern / contemporary look you are going for. I thought this image by Darvin Jones would look great, but here is a link to several more abstract / contemporary images if this one isn't your style. http://www.gallerydirect.com/art/subjects/abstract Let us know how it turns out!

To make your shiny, mirrored furniture look really beautiful, I believe you need serious attention to lighting from a variety of angles. The fan/light combo is not a good choice either for aesthetics or for proper lighting of the space. I don't object so much to the ceiling texture - I'd leave it, myself.

Also, those curtains are just too thin and yellowish and skimpy-looking. I would suggest new custom drapes in a gorgeous fabric that matches the sophistication of your mirrored furniture.

    Rug

Yes, the absolute first thing you need to do is replace the light fixture. Nothing will look right in the room until it's gone.

Your room looks a bit narrow. Maybe don't do a rug but find some wonderful art for the wall over the mirrored buffet.

    Another thought...

    One more painting.

Add two tall, thin buffet lamps along with the art.

The buffet table sit higher then the couch is it still ok to put it behind the couch?

Depends on how much higher -hard to tell here- if the back is finished a bit higher will still look nice. I can see what shorted means about the curtains clashing with a geometric rug, and the rugs he chose were really nice- I would just rather see something brighter and all yellow and white, since the room is a bit dark and ceilings are low. Maybe stripes?
Also, I would still consider changing out that ceiling fan- something not quite right about a ceiling fan over a dining table moving the dust around!

Yeah, that may be too much! But I also like the idea of leaving the table in place and putting a mirror above it to bounce around the light in the space. If there's room you may still be able to place another table behind the sofa.
