No. Also most plants of the same species will respect each other and not over take the next I find. Of course there's always exceptions

I guess it might depend on what you mean by 'over take the next' but I was not seeing a great deal of respect for personal planty space when I was pulling out desperately clotted lumps of rose campion this afternoon.

My eldest, always the most susceptible to whims and fancies, jumped on this immediately, ordering several dozen bare root alders and planting them in the wood. I confess to avoiding that area since it is also the wood ant territory (although the pair of woodpeckers appear to be in avian heaven).
