I have lot of deer eating almost anything, I started taking bushes that I could see they like to chew on and replacing them with others.

I noticed that they dont touch big bush I thing the name is burning bush, it turns very red in fall, making long story short once they run out of greens that they like they chewed on the greens that they didn't touch before.

Deer don't touch my fig trees, I thing because there still something better.

As bluemoon suggested that if there are other sources of food deer may leave your figs alone but do not bank on it. Usually they are more desperate in winter and there is a possibility they may go after your plant. So far only once I have seen fig tree damaged by deer in winter. But since then I have been also protecting the tree from the cold here in winter. In your neck of the woods figs probably do not need winter protection.

Another thing to worry about too but lots of folks have in ground fig trees.

I think I'll take a chance on planting the duplicates in the ground on the property up country and plant the harder to find ones here at the house. Hopefully the wild hogs will leave them alone, also! In these parts, all one has to do is stick a short fig twig in the ground and keep it watered for a while. I'm in SW Louisiana.

Its worth a shot. Last year I had deer eat tomato plants from 3 feet tall down to 18 inches, and came back several times to eat more. However, figs do have a latex in the leaves that may make the deer leave them alone. I am in SE Texas. Birds will attack the fruit and the figs will probably have to be netted close to harvest.
