bathroom remodel design help needed.

My husband and I recently bought a 1961 mid century modern home that we are in the process of updating. We have four children and they are all using one bathroom so I am anxious to get my daughters bathroom updated. I am hoping to do her bathroom a little more transitional. The space is large and I’m excited about what we could do with it. I’m concerned with the added cost of moving plumbing but I would hate to not take full advantage of the space. My daughter is 7 and really wants some sort of tub/shower combo. I’d prefer just the shower but she loves her bubble baths. I would be grateful for any design help!

Well I actually only have one girl. The other kids are all boys and they have their own rooms and a jack and jack bathroom. This will be my daughters bathroom. Love all the ideas! Hope you post pics of your remodel

She may be seven now but you aren't going to modify the bathroom again in terms of tiles etc.

I would look ahead to her teenage years and provide lots of storage for hair dryers, curlers, makeup. I would also opt for a vanity where she can sit and groom with plenty of lighting and mirrors.

I would get rid of that storage cabinet above the toilet as it seems like it would be uncomfortable and you don't need storage.

It's not. a master bathroom used by more than one person so I think the layout of having the sink and dressing area open to the bedroom is fine since you don't have to worry about waking up her significant other :-).

Sorry- I guess when you said they were all using one bathroom...I thought girls! Big luxurious bathroom for her! That’s great! I’d have some fun with it if she’s on board!

Could you post a floor plan with some rough measurements, windows and door.(s) Let us know if the main door can be moved. It offers other possibilities sometimes.

As Suzanne said, a floor plan will help. It's the starting point of a remodel, that dictates what else can and should be done in terms of counter specifics, cabinetry, etc. From there the rest falls into place. A simple hand-drawn sketch is good, and please indicate where the bedroom is too

By the way, is there a tub in the boys' bathroom? Or anywhere else? It may make sense to switch to a shower and schedule bath times such that she can use another one for now.

At 7, you have the luxury of time :)
I don't think the love of bubble baths will be there much longer, and as she'd obviously not be considering that, you need to. Combos are not as comfortable as they should be for a shower used frequently.

What a nice space for her. You could keep the tub. Maybe go a little retro with a tile surround. That tub looks like it could last forever. Nice large vanity area. A seating area and then a higher level sink would be nice. You could use a more feminine color on the walls but maybe black and white tiles for flooring and white tiles for surround.
