master bedroom help

I’m trying to like the color of my bedroom but can’t figure out what I can do to make the room look better. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think it's a pretty room, but that's a decidedly warm wall color. What if you introduced some elements to "cool it down" some? Perhaps some throw pillows and art for the walls that add blues or greens that would harmonize with the wall color. I think the art over the bed is a bit harsh too and would opt for something with a softer look, not framed in black. Mostly, it seems the room just has some harshness to it that could be tweaked into a softer, more mellow look.

I think it's pretty, too, and agree with Ida about another color. The white bed covering seems stark with the dark furniture and warm colored walls. I might try a throw, bed scarf, blanket or similar in a warmish print, folded at the foot of the bed, along with some throw pillows to try to bridge the white and walls. I'd also think about different draperies. You could introduce a print with other colors there, as well. The ruffled draperies seem a little too froofy to go with the dark, bold furniture.

eta: I looked again and think your room would be helped by having larger bedside lamps. The ones you are using look too tiny.

If you don't like the colour, you don't like the colour. :) You have the option to tweak the furnishings as described above or paint the walls a different colour. Your budget, time and energy determine your course of action.

On my monitor, your wall colour looks a bit too saturated and I find the trim contrast too jarring against it. This is my impression viewing your room on my screen. The colours might look totally different in person - glowing walls and harmonizing trim. Sharing my impression with the caveat that monitors are rarely to be trusted in true colour rendering. Better for you to trust your taste. :) Good luck and hope you keep us posted!

I would bite the bullet and repaint the walls in a much lighter tone, possibly the same color as the trim, because the trim standing out is in this room really not a good look. I agree, the art over the bed doesn't really fit, especially against the frilly curtains. The bedside lamps are much too small against that massive bed and need to be taller and have larger shades. Also, find more colorful and interesting art for this room, quite a few pieces for the size of this room. It will really make a difference.

I would be painting that so fast....!! I would probably do a light, coolish neutral or a soft blue or green. I love SW Lattice if you want more of a neutral. I would also paint the space between the molding and tray ceiling trim color, not wall color. I dislike that “stripe” look. Everything else is pretty! You could do a more colorful art piece, but that’s probsbly it! Have fun
