Not rough at all, was fairly popular for awhile but not so much anymore. The stone glass blends have increased in popularity. If the budget allows it is the best looking pool finish out there. Proper install is a must to avoid issues.

If your pool is in a freeze/thaw part of the country, you should consider another finish.

The finish does not have much cement around the beads and the possibility of the beads popping off is there.

My plaster contractor applied this finish for a his customer some time ago and had issues with the beads adhering. We are in the northeast and I'm sure the temp changes played a part in this.

The Jewelscapes have different size beads available. The larger beads are the ones that could give you issues.

While it's a nice, smooth finish, it could be problematic in freeze/thaw seasonal pools.
