Im going to say hybrid epiphyllum(x disocactus most likely). Normal epiphyllums dont have spines on young shoots, but disocactus does.

that's crazy! I have the slightest feeling it may be epiphyllum because I have a vague memory or the parent being a draped plant but I coincidentally did a post before this (not sure if you can find it thru my name) and it turns out I have another upstairs. the this plant is just so thick I can't imagine in hanging. what can I do to accelerate its growth? or is it just such a slow growing plant? I do recall the other upstairs taking years to do much and all the sudden it just took off and won't stop growing!

Some are just much more vigorous growers than others. I have one that put on 3 feet of growth in a single season on some of the growth spikes and then slowed considerably. Others have enlarged much more slowly. But I have never had one that failed to drape or hang eventually.

I think it also may need to be given a bigger pot... thats when my other took off! how long does it take for it to flower? I feel like I may not live long enough haha
