Me too! Spartan Arrow is consistently one of my first ones up. Spring is here in Silicon Valley. Daffodils are blooming and purple leaf plums are blooming.

I love seeing the pips and its good to know which ones come up early. I hope I don't see anything unfurl until after the last frost. Easily my least favorite time for Hosta gardening is worrying about frost hitting my little ones. Another weird winter with as much rain as snow. I don't think this wet freeze/thaw pattern is good for them and I expect to lose some this year.

I saw some new little leaves on a heuchera yesterday, here in 7b. I don't want my hostas pipping prematurely and then getting blasted by a freeze!

Oh, the joys of hosta in the south .... there's supposed to be a hard freeze on Sunday.

Esther..before I got around to make a comment your comment disappeared (I've removed comments too) ..anyway my Little Treasures died too..I had 4 or 5 and they never looked that good and eventually died..the location wasn't great (pretty shady) but it surprised me that they died..

well I freaked out that this Polar vertex was just too much and brought in one of the most prized pots couple of weeks ago. Out temps were so bizzare this winter that my expectation of normal winter and normal overwintering pots outside were a challenge...

I’m in central Indiana and my hostas and bulbs are already peeking thru. There is hope!!!

Linda, when you wish to post one of your own pictures it's best done uploading from your own computer rather than relying on PhotoBucket. You simply click on the 'Photo' button with the camera to its left when you're doing the post and that allows to go to the folder on your computer where you've stored the image. I find for posting that it's always best to first make a smaller sized version of the picture to make uploading faster and not have any issues with the upload crashing. I do a resize of my images to 1280x960 in the same folder as the original and then upload the reduced size one and then once it's been uploaded I delete the reduced image from the source folder.

Knowing we were going to get some snow overnight, I was out in the garden checking things out yesterday. The only hosta showing any sign of life was m. Aureomarginata. I brushed a very little bit of soil over it... then went to look at the hostas in the garage. Several of those are starting to wake up - most perky is So Sweet. So I gave her a “talking to”- it’s way too early to get up.
