I think you need to coordinate your dining room with your office since they are both open to the space. Find something you LOVE - art, curtains, etc and start there. Pull colors from that piece. Then come back and ask for more advice before you paint or hang anything. Work Sucks, so you need stuff in there that you like!!

With the direction your front door opens, the office is the first room anyone sees. I would have the person at the desk facing the front door while seated. If you have clients or visitors in the office, you need to be facing them. Art always looks better when framed and hung at eye level to an average-height person, no matter which room it is in.

Yes, I have recommended Greige for both walls. I thought about red to start with but it's so very 90's solution and I think your rooms should be more textured and subtle.

That extra piece of sectional is strange, but if you hide it behind the desk it works better. The rug is too small for the room and you hang all your art too high. Lower those pieces on either side of the window or find a new place for them Hang sconces or wall lights to expand your wall art that is a bit too small for the wall. Your desk and chair just might be a bit too close to the wall. I hope this image will help you visualize the solution.

Maybe consider picture ledges on the bare wall behind your desk for family photos etc.

The weird looking lonely chair at the back is eventually gonna go. Will replace it with a better looking one. Would it be too much to have two office chairs infront of the table?

I like the idea of adding a long credenza across the far wall for all your office storage with picture ledges above across the whole width of wall (that's the wall opposite the arched entry wall). I would replace the desk with an L shaped one with one part of the L against the wall opposite the window, the other going into the room (so when you're sitting at L desk, you are either facing wall opposite window or facing arched entrance). I hope this isn't confusing! I would also remove the half couch. If you paint the far wall a dark colour, you should do the same in your dining room. Good luck!

If you remove the sofa, you could use two arm chairs with a small round end table between them on the back wall, or put two arm chairs in front of the desk and use a long credenza on the far wall. I would try the artwork behind the desk, and put an oversized framed mirror on the back wall which will reflect the light from outdoors.

I love your current wall colour and window treatment! So soft, airy but cozy! Love it!

I think second desk placement (facing window) works much better then previous one. I would also remove that love seat and put some storage cabinet/credenza there.

Here are some office ideas from some of our designs that might aid you in your dilemma.

is your home office a busy office type..lots of work and paper and items?.. what furniture do you have? will visitors come inside? will you have things hidden? (printers, PC, etc.)

fofamom,sorry for late reply. Had life happen and took a pause in finishing up decor. its not a busy office,its just for my husband when he has stuff to do or just sit and relax browsing his laptop. This is the current look of the room

Looking cozier. It has come along nicely. Suggestion to lower the paintings on either side of the window so that they are the same height as the large painting. Also the object, looks like a clock, behind the desk needs to be lowered so that it would be the height of the middle of the large painting even though it should remain on the wall that it is. Enjoy your space.
