My first instinct would be to do a marble tile to pull everything together. It's classic and you can use color for your accents. What color did you have in mind? Also what are you floors?

I'll probably do a gray floor, haven't decided. I just wanted to insert some color in the backsplash, to have a little fun and not be so neutral. I'm leaning toward kiwi.

How about a back painted glass back splash? Depending on the shape of the splash, this could be a real minimal but sexy solution, There would be minimal maintenance.

Ok gotcha. Well I certainly admire bold kitchens although if it were me I'd probably still use the neutral and do green as an accent color. There are lots of inspiration pics if you search green/apple green, etc backsplash. Another option could be an accent wall. I'm also attaching an ideabook you may like.

A thought to consider: if you use glass panels cut to size, you can use window film on the back with solid white or cream painted wall behind the glass. It is simple to buy and apply, and if you get tired of it, easy to replace.

what about something like this? if you google - Large Sunflower Ming Green Thassos (or you can search here on houzz but to see the tile up close it's best to google). It has a little bit of colour and a very interesting shape?

I would stay neutral because you may change your mind down the road, maybe put up bead board painted the green you want and live with it for a while.Many tiles= 12x12 can be cut down to 12x6 or 6x6 as I did in my kitche with 12x12" tiles I cut down,bottom next to counter top are 12x6 the rest were cut to 6x6 I also brought the tile up along side the window behind the sink and added a second strip of beige tiles..Where I have the beige tiles you could add in a pop of green. I also painted my switch plate covers and then sprayed with Krylon satin to seal.Pics are not great, but will give you an idea.
