What would you change?

Different layout? New furniture? Color pattern? Or would adding or changing something just pull the rest of it all together?

Its odd to see the big sofa hard up against a kitchen counter. do you need all that seating?

There is too much furniture as it looks like a furniture store?

As others have posted, I would pare down to one couch and two chairs and swap out the two mismatched occasional tables for other table options. Is there some reason you have so much furniture or is it because you recently moved and this was furniture from two rooms.

I also wonder why there is a beige carpet and strongly gray walls and what looks like a gray kitchen. Assuming you need to keep the beige carpet, I would look for a VERY large rug so that the beige carpet was no longer any kind of color element.

Without a layout, it's difficult to make suggestions since there is no sense of how this space works in relation to the rest of the area. I am assuming there is no wall because otherwise placing a TV in front of a window generally isn't done.

I would put the tv on a very low stand. Also, get rid of 2 or 3 of the little tables and the dog bed ( looks like he uses the couch ). If you have the budget , a smaller couch on legs would fit the room better.

Thanks everyone! We don’t need all the seating (definitely right- leftovers from the last house) and great point about the beige carpet! Here’s another pic showing the other end of the room

Start by eliminating the rug. Perhaps you should wall mount the TV on an articulated arm between the pass through and the arched doorway. Then put your patterned sofa under the window and the two wing chairs in the bay where the TV is now. Eliminate everything else and start again with your casegoods and new lamps. Once all is in place start shopping for a rug to ground the space and seating. That's where you can add some of the colors from the piece of art.

So that's a beige rug and not beige wall to wall - in that case I would definitely get rid of the rug and showcase what looks like beautiful wood floors.

Again, difficult without knowing dimensions but why isn't the TV mounted where the art is by the arched window as a wall seems to make more sense than a window in terms of television placement.

Some charts to help when you shop and place items.

I would put the patterned sofa under the window and put the two armchairs across from it, with a rectangular coffee table between. You might be able to use your round coffee table as an end table next to the sofa. Remove the other sofa and extra odd shaped tables. Having extra room to stand next to the kitchen and having the walkway clear into the room will really open it up visually.

If it has to stay in front of the bay windows, I would get a lower console and lower the TV to the lowest level that was comfortable to watch. I hesitate to say stick it in the corner, because that location is almost as bad. How much room is there to the right of the kitchen pass-thru?

I particularly like this view of the room. I'd like to see the art lowered to here over a longer bench, and to see the colors in the art reflected in your rug.

Thank you so much, all! Truly appreciate your ideas and advice!

View from the right of the pass through

Looks plenty roomy for the TV to fit there instead of the lamp and table. If the seating is in an "L" in front of both windows, the TV can be pulled out at a slight angle for viewing. If you prefer, you can set it on swivel base atop a credenza 25% wider than the TV itself.

Too many "guests" in that room. Decide which pieces you love and which can depart. Then we'll talk (:

The two-cushion sofa (loveseat?) is smaller in scale than the other furniture and has messy back cushions. I would remove it entirely. If the rug is an area rug, is the wood floor in good condition? The beige rug and almost-beige chairs don’t go well with the gray walls. If you are keeping the rug and chairs, you need to bring in something in a printed fabric which includes the gray and the beige color to tie in the two color families. Removal of the small sofa will help reduce the overcrowding issue.
Art will help bring the visual focus up from the rug and will add color. Framed art always looks better than frameless art, and while the frames do not need to match, similarly-colored frames can bring some continuity around the room.
The tv should be at eye-level to a seated adult and not in front of a window unless there is no other choice.

The home looks like it has some amazing features. The ceiling details, the archway styling etc. is there a chance the best of the two sofas could sit facing the bay window? That would help create a walkway space behind sofa. Then the TV might work on a corner TV cabinet to the left of the bay window. If you would post the room dimensions, the width of windows, and size of wing chairs and sofa. Does TV have to stay in this room?

I would get rid of the dog bed. Apparently it is not used. lol

Looks like plenty of room to the right of the pass through. I would put the TV there, but since it's right opposite the entry, I'd put it inside an armoire.

What color white? That is always a dilemma. Do you know what the color of your trim is? Love that ceiling!

Get rid of the rug and the loveseat. Put the TV in the corner next to the bay window. Put the patterned sofa opposite the bay window with the chairs on either side. Find pillows with both the beige of the chairs and gray of the sofa. And don’t get rid of the dog’s bed! lol. Just place it in the corner.
