Thanks Steve, so I can just go ahead with my original plan to prune that limb back from the old damaged point. I just brought them back in this morning because we have a cold snap coming for the next three to four days of 20 degree lows and wind chills of 8 degrees. So I will hold off for a while.

Looks to me like it could be gummosis. Is there a chance this tree could be dealing with it?

I plan to check the roots and I decided to prune that whole section just in case.

So far I've read that repotting and fungicide treatment would help. When I pruned the branch the color of the substance was darker amber colored, so you may be correct PacNorWreck. So when it warms a bit I will get it back outside, check the roots and if they look okay repot then isolate and see what happens. The wood inside the point of the cut looked healthy as well. I trashed and did not think to take photos.

Thanks for your suggestion. Apologies for the late response have been bombarded.

As of now I have only pruned it back and it is still inside so I have not checked the roots yet. I will began putting them out today since todays low is 42 and I think the cold weather is about done for Dallas now. I will see if your treatment method is one that will work for me. Were you able to take care of this problem? Have similar substance on an outdoor blood orange tree branch.
