It gets lost..For a moment there I didn't see the mantel. I would do a different color,,still wood, but something more natural..either walnut like or light color if you prefer

Remove it, mount the TV then decide what to do. You then might need to lower it.

I say a natural tone... i first agreed with dark charcoal mentioned above, but then I’m trying to envision the large black rectangle from the TV and then the black from the firebox. It’s a lot of dark.

Deep charcoal or black stain.

It may be the photo, but it doesn’t look quite level to me.

I noticed that too immediately after posting. I had to go back and look at a pre-stain photo. It’s level - just photo weirdness.

This was done quickly on my phone lol no photoshop pro here but what about white or the wall color? That’s my fake tv about it :)
