I agree that large format tiles are more modern I like 12 x 24 tiles as opposed to large square ones and done in a stacked pattern with the schluter strips would be interesting

Larger format tile will result in a cleaner, less busy look for sure, good call. And yes on stacked as Patricia suggests - did that with my floor tiles and I'm very happy whith how it looks. I am going for a similar vibe in my kitchen but a flouting this good advice - found a subway with a subtle 3-D texture for a song I couldn't resist. We're using those Schluter strips too - love how they look. Post a picture when you're done!
