I would leave the shutters in place and paint them the off white color of the house.

I far prefer the side shutters over converting the space to wall, effectively and dramatically shrinking the door set-up. Fix those things with paint. Instead, put the money into the far more necessary improved stoop and walk.

If you don’t like the shutters, replace with wide trim of some kind, painted to match either the door or the shutters. Currently the door looks generous and appears to match the width of the window above it. If you replace the shutters with all white brick, it will narrow the appearance of the doorway and make it looked pinched.

I agree that removing the shutters will not look as good, but I would replace all of your shutters with solid panel ones. More like your door.

Your new door is pretty yet it is hard to see because it just melts into the dark shutters next to it. Easiest thing is to paint them white and see how it looks. If you were up for a big project, I would paint the part of your house that is white the same color as the grey wings, unify the front, bring more attention to the door.
