Exposed aggregate concrete will give you a non-slippery finish. Different colors and textures are possible (I like sand etch for pool surrounds). Personally, I don't like the look of most stamped concrete - it tends to look fake, especially if it's a texture that mimics a natural material such as cobblestone or flagstone. That's just me though.

We got a pool in the 50s. The deck was concrete with the surface brushed with a push broom to give it traction. That's kind of standard.

Broom finish concrete is one of the less expensive and does provide decent traction.

We've been waiting for a while for a break in the rain to pour our deck--we'd wanted exposed aggregate (with the added pebbles) but couldn't find an aggregate mix locally we liked. So we'll be doing the washed texture where the exposed aggregate is just the stuff already in the mix. Basically we want it to look like the worn-out stuff we're replacing, but without the cracks.

Our contractor did a test pour using "Topcast" in the "sand blast" finish and it has a nice texture, just rough enough but not ouchy.

I also think stamped concrete usually looks cheap, even
though it isn't necessarily. If you find it's your best choice for the
traction you want, choose wisely. Some patterns aren't too bad. :)

A standard poured concrete deck is the best for your situation. I have a client who needs a wheelchair to be mobile to the pool and her deck is concrete.

Not a fan of stamped concrete.

Kool Deck is a nice option to spruce up look. Just find a contractor who is experienced in applying this finish as there is a time frame after the pour to apply it. Can be tricky on hot days.
