The tile looks good with white/ cream textured shower curtains, perhaps with a black border or monogram. I’ve seen your shower curtain. It looks good with warm creamy colored tile or browns/greens in a room with natural light.

Neither of the paint colors seem to go with either the tile or the shower curtain. Post pictures of what the rooms are like now and maybe we can help you pick elements that get where you want to go.

I have that curtain and it's browns/green. Busy floor needs simple, plain shower curtain.

If you have to have that curtain, change the floor.

Here is the Room along with some other tile I was looking at. I have the shower curtain I want to use hanging up on the towel rack. It has silver In it, there is no cream or Brown in this curtain. Help me with my tile choices! My 1st thought was a white tile with black Or charcoal Gray grout.

The other bathroom will be changed with new floor, vanity, counter top, light fixture. if I can get the tile right in the pictured bathroom I will use the same. It is a small bathroom with 24" vanity and shower.

IMO that style of curtain does not work with those tiles and I actually dislike shower curtains they close in the space especially in samall spaces I like glass shower screens or doors much better.

It's not the color or pattern of the shower curtains that's not working as much as the style. The shower curtain is reading traditional/ tuscan, while the floor tile is classic. A clean, simple shower curtain will work best.

I like all your tile selections, but not the shower curtain. This one would work very well with any of your black and white tiles:

Also, I think that selecting a shower curtain first, and then finding tiles to go with it is kind of backwards. You should select the permanent finishes before something so temporary as a shower curtain.

I know its backwards, but I bought the curtain thinking it went with the paint color. (Planning on using BM Blue Danube for small bath, used BM Surf Blue on pictured bath -- it looks teal. I thought it would work in one if not the other. Plus I was thinking of a white tile and figured it would have to work with a white floor with black grout.) And because I liked it!! Glass doors are out of the budget. Plus I don't have a nice shower to go with a glass door (Just plain ol' fiberglass), and a new shower is not in the future. Would any tile go with that curtain?

I don’t see how the wall color goes with the shower curtain. Not being mean; I just don’t think it matches. Black and white floors won’t look good with it either.

Tell us all the colors in the shower curtain, in order, with the close-up picture above. Are you changing the vanity counter top? What color is it? It looks like brown granite.

None of this makes sense together to me. That shower curtain and your tile desires live in two different worlds and I don't get how the wall color relates much to either.

Ahh, the beauty of monitors! Counter is black quartz with specks of grey and white. See Close up picture (ignore bright dots in right top corner). We just put counter in about 18 mo. ago, so it stays!
In person, the curtain does go with the teal walls, pictures don't do it justice. But I bought it to go in the other bathroom which hasn't been painted yet (I never made that clear) I plan on painting it BM Blue Danube. Curtain colors are varied shades of blue-greens, blue, and silver, with bright silver threads stitched in vertical lines. Very much cool colors, not warm at all. I took close up pictures of sections left to right.
So, curtain is for "blue bath" but I thought it worked with teal as well. Same tile for both bathrooms. Any tile ideas? Would any I posted earlier work, or are there better choices? I want to use porcelain, thought penny tile would be too small, marble look would not work (maybe I'm wrong).

As you are asking for opinions in a public forum, I'm going to be honest, and reiterate that the shower curtain fabric, whether warm or cool, does not work with any of the tiles you selected. I think most of the responses you received said as much. Personally I don't think it has any sort of good style, it just reads kind of cheap (sorry I couldn't think of a better word) and dated. Contrary to what Sina Sadeddin Design stated, it's not Tuscan, and certainly not any kind of traditional that I know of.

But if you really like it, then go ahead, there's nothing more I can say.

Even up against the paint swatches, I still don't think it matches. I absolutely wouldn't design my permanent bathroom features around it.

With that being said, your counters would look fine with those black and white floors.

OK, looks like curtain is out. I needed some honest persuasion! Back to tile, will the black and white tile get dated or do you think you would get tired of it? If I put tile in, it will stay forever (at least while we're in the house). Is it best to tile 2 bathrooms with the same tile for cohesive issues or can you do 2 different tiles? Thinking I could use the patterned black & white in small downstairs bath and a plain white with black or charcoal grout in upstairs. I lean towards the one below but not set on it -- Any suggestions? Any better ideas?

The black and white tile is really cute, will it date- yes. If you love it, use it in the small bath only as you mention. Here's what i notice in this thread- style confusion. The pairings don't quite seem to mesh. Is your home traditional, contemporary. Might be worth calling in a designer for a home visit just as a sounding board.

Color Zen - pairings of what, the 2 tile choices? So what would go together? Not sure what you would call my home, I'm not up on the terminology. but probably contemporary with some industrial touches (in furnishings, not structural - i.e. I don't have brick walls, etc.,)

Reading up on contemporary/traditional, I don't think contemporary applies to my home. Probably more traditional style.

The curtain will only look good if it MATCHES the color of the floor tile.

The black and white basketweave tile is a classic look that will stand the test of time. It's been used since the 1920s in bathrooms, and still looks good today. The white "picket fence" tile is very nice too, not as classic, but still a solid choice.

As for using the same tile in both bathrooms, I would do it if the floor tile were very plain, but if you're going with a statement pattern, then I'd use it only once.

I love both the basketweave and white tiles. I’d use the pattern in the smaller bath. The white is fab because it is classic but updated. I’d also suggest new, lighter paint. Your bathroom looks a bit like a cave with that dark teal. Consider pulling color in through accents(towel edging, pictures, etc.). Picking out tile and wall color can be so daunting, so many choices. I just primed over our brightly colored master bedroom walls and we are previewing 6 shades of white (going for soothing in my old age). Who knew it would be such an ordeal? Good luck!

I just painted it teal a little over a year ago. In person, it isn't too dark (but I like dark anyway-- I was sick of my pale walls)! And we like it for now, but that black wall you mocked up is really nice. Now I have more to consider with the floor, it looks nice there.

Love the dark grey wall color combination. I had a small bath in my Victorian which white wainscoting and black walls above that which was risqué 20 years ago. Sounds like you’re getting some great ideas here.

Good move on shower curtain. If you want timeless just do white and black with perhaps a gray wall color. I would consider a larger hexagon white porcelain tile with gray grout. I think the patterned floor tile are a bit trendy.

If you do a simpler floor, you can get a shower curtain that looks like the patterned tile. I like to change accessories and enjoy neutrals in hard/expensive to change elements like tile floors and countertops.

As much as I love the look of that patterned black and white floor now, I wonder if I will tire of it after awhile (when I started this thread I was all set on it). If I found a shower curtain like that I would take it! Still love my teal walls so they stay (they do look better in person). I think I will probably go for a white tile - basketweave, hex or "picket fence", still can't decide! You all have been great, even if you did talk me out of my shower curtain, (truth hurts sometimes).

Thanks Flo. I was looking at a hex, same maker in matte but some reviews said color was either cream (I think they got wrong item) or greyish. Maybe glossy would be "whiter". Does hex rather than a basketweave work for a classic look that would work in any house? I like "unique" and sometimes I error in that regard. I want timeless but not boring.

The hexagon walks the line between timeless and sassy new. But will be lasting look. Seems just right for you. Your turquoise walls and floor are sassy you but the rest is Miss Practical! Seems perfect. ;)

Get samples of anything you choose to verify color. Can’t trust on line photos or descriptions!!
