Frankly I would paint everything one color, including the bathroom, in a soft grayish-beige color. The color you have now does not do your rooms any favors.

All these colors were from the original home owner:) there used to be every other drawer had cowhide on it. I ripped that off at move in. Slowly working my way to upstairs after kitchen redo.

The kitchen color seems rather flat and boring. You can google "neutral paint colors" and all sorts of blogs and pictures will come up with suggestions. I would go with a grayed beige like BM Pale Oak. SW can copy that color for you although BW has a reputation for being a superior paint. I'm going to try it on my dining room but have no experience with it so far.

I like that Pale Oak. I think it would be SO different but so good!

Any advice on the built in under the TV? Paint it? Wish it was wood but it's that laminate material.

Ordered curtains to try. Do I have to put the two in the middle? What is the rules for that? The spacing is very small and I would hate to block our view at all. The curtains will never be actually used just decoration. Also considering painting accent area behind TV a dark blue (maybe trying a shade darker than Polaris like black pepper or possibly very dark like black bean soup??) and having it trimmed out with rustic wood. While watching TV I can see why they went darker in that corner it creates more of a movie theater feel. Ordered new pulls too. Anyone paint laminate?

Hey Rachel!

Yes, texturing will matter when it's painted. If it's a faux finish, it will need to be sanded to promote adhesion. Also please keep in mind that if it's not fully sanded or skimcoated, much of the imperfections will be visible and it'll result in an uneven look.

The accent wall should be the wall that you want to focus on when you walk into a room, the wall behind is very typical. Bold colors like navy, dark gray and blue/grays really pop!

thank you I am back to the drawing board with paint colors. Accessible Beige really pulled purple in our room. I ordered samples of a couple Magnolia Home paints. Thank you for the advice about sanding the texture. I did take down the curtains there and ordered one's like suggested above. Just waiting for paint.

Are you wanting light walls or dark walls or color on the walls? Consider wallpapering the wall behind your TV, and then pulling a color from that wallpaper for the rest of the walls. Betsy a nice neutral color. Not grey more tan. Our house is this color so something that compliments that. Thank you. We are going to be putting our big TV in that space so now thinking just keep same color and mount TV.

Sunday afternoon update:) Paint is finished. Went with Magnolia Homes Gatherings which has more tan, blues, greens than the purple we saw in Accessible Beige. Husband going to put up new curtain rods and mount TV this afternoon. I'm running to home goods to find accent pieces to go on each side of TV. Would sconces on walls next to TV work? Thanks for advice.

We just had new floors put in downstairs (similar to yours) and Pale Oak (BM) and Gatherings/Soft Linen by Magnolia are on my short list. How did you like the Magnolia paint? It looks beautiful in your home!

My husband says it was just like Sherwin Williams. It's such a nice color as it's calm but has a hint of color to it.
